Wisconsin

Any body here boat any lakes/rivers in Wisconsin? I'm usually on Lake Wisconsin and the WI river between Sauk and the Dells.....see ya on the sandbars!

DPA 06-13-2007 09:10 PM

I usually hit the croix a few times per year.

ROB FREEMAN 06-13-2007 10:36 PM

castle rock gets a fair share of power boats

Revd Up 06-13-2007 11:40 PM

I'll be on Lake Mendota this weekend, and at Castle Rock next weekend.

KevApp 06-14-2007 12:57 AM

Green Lake is my lake of choice. I call it my Heaven!

HPJunkie 06-14-2007 08:34 AM

Reved up 930 saturday?

Downtown42 06-14-2007 09:46 AM

You guys from Rockford, you know Mark St John? He hangs at Castle Rock most weekends. We used to rent the cabins from Beall's by Gilligans but now there are condos. Any place to get a room overnight and dock the boat? I can't remember any others.

buchnerbh22 06-14-2007 03:01 PM

The Madison Lakes, Mendota especially are nice because there is usually some good scenery around the Memorial Terrace/campus area ;) The Water Cops don't care too much for loud exhaust though which is unfortunate :(

satisfied1 06-14-2007 11:21 PM

We mainly boat in the La Crosse area but we are not afraid to travel. Hope to see some of you in Chicago in July!!

Warlock 28 SXT 06-19-2007 05:05 PM

I mainly go boating on lake michigan. I also run on okauchee lake. It's a fun lake but the police are getting to be a bit much. I've been out to big green and am headding back up there in the next couple of days. I going up to bblades and want to test out a few props. Does anybody head out for the 3rd on mich for the big bang?

Downtown42 06-19-2007 06:26 PM

July 3 is a zoo everyone and their dead grandmas show up. It's a hassle.

Warlock 28 SXT 06-19-2007 07:02 PM

It's not that bad ok it's really busy, but I just rent a slip for the night. That ends the hassel of waiting at the launch. Just a thought on putting a few faces to the names on OSO.

Revd Up 06-19-2007 11:41 PM

I know Mark. He now has a place up there. Think he has a 28-30 ft Baja he took in on trade for his 36 Powerquest. Keeps it at Dirty Turtle. I don't really know of any really good places to stay. Just look around and its hit and miss.

I am usallay out at gilligans in madison. Lake wisconsin is fun cuz you can open it up for a bit, but the sand bars are boring, more of a family spot than people looking to party and get wild. Gilligans, lately, and surprisingly enough, has been getting wild.........:D

Castle rock is not even close to the same amount of fun factor since gilligans got shut down..............

Downtown42 07-19-2007 01:18 PM

What a shame, I sure miss that place and knew Chris well too. He opened up the restrauant one time about 2am and made a pizza we were so fricking hungry!!

Yeah, Venise model searches, wet t-shirt (no shirt) contests, home made swimsuit contests (no suit)........those were the days

J-Bonz 07-19-2007 10:55 PM

All i see in milwaukee are fishing and pontoon boats :(

cloudmaster_321 07-20-2007 10:20 AM

I'll be on menona/waubesa this saturday again, if anyone is going to be there as well, i recommend either being at the launches by 10 or after 12. Paddle and portage is going on and will be finishing at ohlin park about 11.

Breathe Later 07-23-2007 09:19 AM

Check out www.northernbayresort.com for Castle Rock. There's new condos and a boat launch, docks there.

Carlsons has a nice beach and a gazebo bar. Probably won't get as good as Gilligans though.

Are you kidding me, carlsons beach is 3 feet deep of water 200 feet out, you have to anchor and walk in. And again, family joint, which is fine, but not if your looking to have a party.......

Breathe Later 07-23-2007 11:01 AM

Yes, it's shallow there. The new piers go way out, but still pretty shallow. I walk the boat in from aboaut 5 ft deep. Alot of the partying is now at the sand bar across the lake by whatever island that is. The green water is pretty bad when it gets hot too.

That is what is called Alcatrese. Don't know if that is how it's spelled, but you know what i mean. Pretty much is a shallow sand bottomed area, but still have to anchor the boat. People can still park at the old gilligans, but only 1/4 of the beach remains.

wowchad 08-21-2007 11:29 AM

We usually boat on Little Muskego Lake b/c its right by home, Okauchee lake b/c my father-in-law lives on it, and we go to the Mississippi River pretty often.
We've also done Mendota, Castle Rock, Butte des Morts, Winnebago, the Chain in Eagle River and Green Bay out of Door County (that was the best so far)

I always ran all the way up the river at Castle Rock and partied right before the dam...Oh where is Gilligan's in Madison?
I've only been there once but I'd like to go back and find some people we partied with at a poker run.

inthetundra 07-11-2012 10:17 AM

All the boats must be gone from Wisconsin...hahahaha Castle Rock is so shallow all over the place. Petenwell is bigger and has about a 20 ft average depth, but I don't think there is much of a party there

wowchad 07-11-2012 04:13 PM

Everyone sold their hot-rods and bought pontoons!

Well it seems that was sometimes...them things, bass boats and wakeboard boats are taking over around here.

We're heading up to LaCrosse/ Trempeaul area this weekend for some powerboating, I can't wait to get out on the river!!!

Castle rock is where I'm at almost every weekend. On holiday weekends there are always 100+ boats at the sand bar island, alcatraz (spelling?). A regular weekend will have still a good amount of boats. Fun lake for sure.

The amount of pontoons/tri toons is crazy. I saw a tri toon on Castle Rock last weekend with a 300 outboard and plenty others with 250s. Pretty expensive rigs for pontoons lol.

Lax/Tremp should be a fun weekend. I was there middle of May for Tremps Reggae fest and slept in the boat in an overnight slip at Sunset Bay Marina. Really nice place I thought. It's fun to experience the locks, but they get kind of a PITA IMO. Only other powerboats I saw that weekend was a 32 fever and a 24 outlaw. Put on about 60 miles. Have fun.

inthetundra 07-11-2012 09:06 PM

My sons are at Alcatraz most weekends on their 20' Larson Senza. We live about 4 miles from the lake. I'm a Captain for the county dive/rescue team, my boys are on the team as well. so I hope we don't have to fish any of you guys out that come up here. Lots of idiots on that lake for sure.
