I wouldn't pay someone to drive from Springfield. There are a million attorneys up there. You don't even need a good one. The first offense is a gimmee. They just want there $600.

I know there is a guy in Lake Ozark town, but can't think of his name. The biotch of it is you have to drive back up there.

gsmith9898 08-27-2007 01:54 PM

You do HAVE to drive back up there?:throw:

I would think a BWI would require you to be there. Im pretty sure a BWI is just as bad as a DUI.

Barbara VanTine. She is located near the dam. If she cannot take the case her office can give you a good referral.

Ditto - call Barb. And as far as being as bad as DUI - not even close. The only thing that use to need an appearance is your check. Everything else on a first offense was a rubber stamp.

From what I have heard from somebody here in Ohio that got one
He got a attorney and it ended up just costing him money no points or anything on his license.
On the fact that A boat does not require a license to drive.

Some states have reciprocating laws for boats and cars, some don't. Unless something has changed in the last 7 years, Missouri did not have that law. So if you got a BUI in Missouri it stayed in Missouri. In fact it did not even show up on your Missouri driving record, although we know everything is discoverable if you screw up enough times.

If you paid your fine and stayed clean for 2 years of boating, everything was supposed to be expunged from records.

sent a check to a attorney in camdenton today. Will let you guys know how it turns out. It does not go on your driving record but the third one is a felony.

Unfortunately, I know of which I speak on this subject.

I'd use John Kaltenbronn or Jayce Kentner. They are good and won't break the bank on you.

Googled and found a LOTO attorney for a BWI during the shootout weekend ,signed a power of atty and never even drove up there for court and have court supervision. Its a pretty simple 1 but have a buddy who got his 3rd in LOTO and spend 42 days in the KLINK this fall the judge did let him go home and pay some bills ,tell his work he'll be off for a while, and give the wife and kidz a kiss & hug :evilb:

Used Andrew White out of camdenton. Paid attorney $1000 and fines of $550. All done through the mail and didn't have to drive back up there. 2 years on unsupervised probation.

A gimmee? I would be careful. I got one in 2004 before the laws changed and it got tough. My first and only offence of any kind! I paid 6k for an attorney that represents the Sheriffs department, is on many of the judges election comittees and, is on the radio every saturday.

I was sentenced to house arrest, lost my license, paid $1,500 in fines, probabtion for two years, ordered to level-3 alcohol class, ordered to a MADD seminar, ordered to a alcohol awareness and family class (I don't have a family), ordered to meet with a probabtion officer every month (60 miles away), lost a total of 18 days of work, spent $2,800 in plane tickets to get back to court for all the hearings, (i was traveling alot at the time) etc, etc...

I would be careful.

NoQuarter 11-30-2007 09:43 AM

oh and, I was a .012 (limit was .01) and no agravating circumstances.

NoQuarter 11-30-2007 09:45 AM

oh and, lost my boating privelages for one year. I couldn't operate a boat until fall of 2005. By then it was tool cold. I think you get the picture.

NoQuarter 11-30-2007 09:47 AM

WOW thats pretty HARSH did the cop have a HARD ON for you ??????

NoQuarter 11-30-2007 01:27 PM

I don't think so... The actual arrest went fine, I even gave the sherriff tips on driving my boat back to the launch so it could be towed and impounded... My house and lift were 200 yards from the Sheriff station, but they would hear nothing of simply dropping it there. The tow and impound was another $780.

The jail at the Sheriff department was experiencing a problem with someone there, I they wouldn't keep me there. Again, my house was 200 yards away, but they drove me all the way to downtown Minneapolis where I stayed four days. When I got out on Monday, I walked the 45 miles home as I was so thoroughly discussed with everything.

The judge even knew who my brother is (another attorney), and this judge was apparently sympathetic to vets. Guess not on this day.

To this day, I do not go to places on the lake. I do not go out to bars. I do not socialize... I drive straight home each day and stay at home with my dog.
