LOTO, Looking for Cove around 7MM to anchor overnight
A few of us are taking our cruisers up to the 7MM for the races next week. We plan on staying in a cove overnight on saturday.
Are there any "quiet" coves in that area that would be good to anchor in overnight. Looking for reasonable water depth, low traffic, and in a relatively unpopulated area (dont want to anchor 20' from someones dock). Gary |
There is a nice wide point in the channel down the gravois arm a few miles. By the public boat launch in that area there used to be a a church camp property that has been sold but not developed. HTere is a nice non populated/developed cove at that location.

Gary Try Buck Creek cove all the way around the back, nice water houses are far enough away and no traffic. |

Come up the Gravois about 2 miles, on your RHS as you motor up, Gravois channel goes very wide. Anchor off the shoreline on the "South" side. No homes. All trees. Very nice. Low/no traffic at night. |
Thanks! I think I found the area on the map. Looks like a big peninsula with no homes on it near the entrance to the Gravois arm.
It seemed like a better idea to find a place to cove out rather than driving 20 miles at 3AM sunday, then turning around and going back for the races that morning. Gary |
For quiet water try back behind Big Thunder Marine (behind the twin islands across from the 7mm)

As soon as you come into the Gravois Arm there is a small island on the right. Go to the left of the island and head straight back. There are some houses on the right side of the cove but none on the left. We go back there every once and a while to cove out. Usually about 10 15 boats anchored out there on the weekend during the day.
