LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. (4.5 MM) -- Boaters cruised by the rubble in awe, mouths agape, in shock Jolly Rogers was no more. Fire crews controlled smoldering spots as demolition crews flattened the few pieces of charred wall left standing.

Burned to the ground. The docks from the popular “Grub “N” Grog” remained, lined by red caution tape keeping morning boaters from mooring.

Fire marshals say the hot spot at the 4.5-mile marker of the Gravois Arm went up in flames from an accidental kitchen fire at 1:30 a.m., Tuesday morning.

“The fire started from a six-burner stove in the kitchen. It was accidental,” Rocky Mount Fire Marshal Gene Robertson said. “Myself and the state fire marshal are confident in our findings.”

The roof collapsed shortly after flames engulfed the building, witnesses reported. The adjacent buildings did not appear to have sustained major damage and the fire did not reach a large propane tank on the property. An SUV parked next to the building was also burned.

Nobody was in the restaurant when the fire ignited and no injuries have been reported. Jolly Rogers closed for the last time Monday night at 9:30 p.m. and the staff was gone by about 10:30 p.m., Robertson said.

Rocky Mount, Eldon and Lake Ozark firefighters all responded to the blaze.

It is a sad thing. They are some of the nicest people on the Lake.

Good for you. I'll be down for a long weekend 8/1, might have to go down next weekend to pick the boat back up. Then down for the shootout, and probably one other weekend in August. Then down for 10 days over labor day.

Maybe I'll catch you the weekend of Aug 1.

Or TK just let me know 7/31 works for them if you want to go that weekend. I am changing oil this weekend, then taking it over for the drive seal work. Also changing the oil in the starboard drive.

Then I wil be good to go until we winterize.

Probably will run it all winter long - but we still are going to winterize the crapper, generator, air and fresh water.:p

Then we just have to pump and go on the engines each time out.

chevyzq8 07-18-2008 04:43 PM

There's no 'probably' about it, we are running all winter. The Captain will keep me warm :D

Lake Rat 07-25-2008 10:46 AM

No doubt the Captain will take care of you boys:drink:
