Loto Shoot-out Info

So I'm trying to figure out a trip for this year. Never been so I'm not very familiar with the lake or what MM one would want to stay.

Can someone kind break it down for me?

silverskater40 01-16-2009 07:20 PM

shootout is ar captain Rons at the 34mm, the most populated area with condos, houses, bars restaurants are between 17mm-26mm, public beach ramp is around 19mm, Tan Tara resort is where alot of people stay, Its at the 26mm, good place to stay.

Griff 01-17-2009 02:09 AM

The Shootout is held at the 35mm. A good area to stay would be on the Osage Beach side of the lake and between the 20 and 28mm. Are you looking for something more specific as far as resorts or condo complexes????

michaelschase 01-18-2009 10:53 AM

Tantara at the 26 mile marker would be an option, depending on boat size for putting in water. They are a family resort with plenty to do. There number is 1(800) 826-8272 or 1(800) Tan-Tara. :D

Was looking at Osage Beach area and thought that might work.

As far as resorts.. Kind of looking for a water front condo with a dock that would hold 3 couples.

Ledges condos will be your best bet. 20.5mm pmg management rents them, another would be lands end condos 19mm

Check Out VRBO (www.vrbo.com) Vacation rentals by owner for the three couple issue. You can find a nice house with a dock or condo?
Or I could sell you one Quick LOL.:evilb:

Talk to Kim and she will set you up at either Parkview Bay or the Towers.

Nice places to stay unless they want to get closer. That's about 17 miles from Captain Ron's by water, including a trip through the Grand Glaize no-wake zone.
Kim has definitely been good to work for us, though.

midwest272 01-23-2009 06:42 AM

If you want to be closer in look at the niangua arm of the lake. Smoother water, places to go (Ha Ha Tonka), close to the race course.
Not as hopping as the GG area but there are several bars that are okay, Dirty duck, Captains galley, to name a few and the Fish is around the corner in the Linn creek cove that is starting to get pretty good raft ups.

Only suggested it as he mentioned he would like to stay in the Osage Beach area. Yes, it is not the closest place to the Shootout but not a terribly long distance away and it puts you into the heart of the action that weekend.

Agreed. I just wanted to let them know the distance in case it was a factor. :ernaehrung004:

Southocg 01-23-2009 10:10 AM

Thanx for the info everyone... I'll be making some calls to set something up.

Looks like 3, possibly 4 couples in our group. Not sure what boat(s) we'll be bringing. Regardless, we will bring some good times.

Should be no hill for a climber! :ernaehrung004:
No Wake sucks at the Grand Glaize but at least he wouldn't have to negotiate it for his trips to Party Cove! :drink:

Agreed!

Heck, we'll be boating from the 3.5mm of the Osage, so what the heck. Enjoy the ride!

We made the trip last year from the 4MM. Like you said, kick back and enjoy the ride!

Liquid_Addiction 02-09-2009 09:10 AM

Similar to Southocg, we are making a trip over to the Shootout for the first time this year, so looking for a little guidance from the veterans.

We've got about six guys in our party and we are looking to be in the middle of the action, both during the day and at night. Ideally, we'd like to find a place to stay that's within walking distance of the bar(s) where the big parties are gonna be.

We are bringing a 33' Outlaw, so need to find a place near a ramp where we can either trailer the boat at night, or dock it overnight for a couple nights.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Keep in mind, I'm not familiar at all with LOTO, so specifics are really helpful.

Griff 02-09-2009 12:25 PM

Very few condo complexes are going to be walking distance from the bars.
The action during the day will be at Capt Rons and the actual Shootout. The best bars and party action at night will be around 20mm at Dog Days, Shorty Pants, Top Sider, Backwater Jacks. There other places, but these are all within a few miles of each by water.
I would stay closer to the 20mm and use a DD or take cabs for going out at night. Both land & water cops out all over.

Check VRBO and look for something at the Ledges with a slip for the boat. You definately don't want to put it on the trailer every night.

Blue Bayou 02-09-2009 12:49 PM

The ledges are a good condo just make sure you check where your slip is because you don't want to be on the ones that are closests to the lake, unless you own a gel coat shop.

sacaja 02-09-2009 01:10 PM

ledges condo's are the location. pmg condo rentals 573-365-3800 get a building on channel #10 is full of rentals
and a dock like 1-5 not any higher. good luck see ya there.

omerta one 02-09-2009 03:01 PM

Best place to launch and store the trailer is PB 2 (Public Beach #2) They also have rental slips. It is very close to party cove by water and direct access from the main drag (Hwy 54).

i hear silver sands marina at the 38mm is also nice. If i bring mine up for the mwbp poker run or shootout i think we will launch from there. im still wet behind the ears when it comes to launching so i dont want to have pb2 all jacked up. haha.

Launching is the easy part, it is loading that can be tricky.

I won't be trying to load solo again for some time (just picture me sliding off the deck near the bow and landing in 2' of water). Luckily there were only a couple fisherman around but I am sure they have told that story more than a time or two at the bar LOL..

eddie 02-09-2009 09:50 PM

I've got a few guys #'s that rent at the Ledges if you want to skip the property mgmt fees send me a PM. It's only a $12.00 cab ride from the Ledges to Dog Days. There will also be a poker run & stereo contest the shoot out weekend. Details should be out soon.

Quit being a wussy:p:p:D:D

PB2 is not usually very busy and is wide open and easy to launch at. They also have a second ramp at the old public launch that hardly gets used. I would not go all the way to the 38mm to launch for the poker run.

For the mwbp poker run i agree. but for shootout it may not be that bad.

i need to just check out pb2 w/out the trailer sometime just to find where it is. ive been on 54 many times & never remember seeing any signs for it. would like to know exactly where to turn when pulling the boat.

Agreed. PB2 is about as user-friendly as it gets. I've launched there late at night before with no worries.

Oh, and quit being a wuss. :evilb:

The entrance is across from the post office. It is a brown sign that doesn't really stand out unless you are looking for it.

Keytime 02-10-2009 12:54 PM

Brian,

Try these coordinates for PB2: 38.118943, -92.663949.

That should put you right at the launch.

what i would not reccomend is the kapalana restort on osage beach. the manager was a total dick. they told me i could not leave my trailer in the parking lot when they knew i was comming with a boat. my parking lot had 30 spaces and i backed the trailer over the parking block and it took up no more sapce than my superduty. i only did that because there was no more room in the trailer lot. im not a jerk... it just so happens my boat requires a trailer to travel on anything but water. then the douche said he was so suprised about how people that drink act and saying we were up till 4 am and yelling "blame it on the beer" well i can assure you... after a day on the lake you are lucky to make it past midnight. i dont know who the phuck he was talking about but it was not me. this year i will be in loto in the begging of august and i rented a lakehouse. there are sites to help... http://www.vacationrentaldirect.com/ i found a house in LOTO that is gonna be great. hopefully i can find a place for my coumbersome trailer to my 24 foot boat!:ernaehrung004:

Griff 03-06-2009 01:52 AM

I have heard the same thing about that place. Had a friend that used to stay there all the time. He said they got a new manager who was an A hole and he said he'd never stay there again. That was a few years ago.
