LOTO Noise Enforcement?
 

Bringing my 30 Outlaw to LOTO first time this summer. Thinking about replacing the stock muffler tips with chrome 6" pipes. Does WP ticket/hassell for noise with Captains Call open on LOTO?

You won't have any problem with that. I'm assuming 496's, right?

Missouri 86 dB at 50 feet or 90 dB at idle speed at 1 meter (I believe).

If you are over that they can ticket you. Usually an opportunity to sniff around for other things like bui as well.

Will be making our first trip this year as well so what about no captain call and 500 EFI's?

If you run between Memorial Day and Labor Day, probably not too much of an issue. Unless of course, it is a cat or a wild paint job!

They have way bigger noise guys to fry than that - don't worry about it.

I've got CMI dry pipes on 502mpi's with switchable mufflers. the muffs take some bite off, but they are still loud and never had a problem.

It all depends. If its a slow monday, you might get stopped. If its on a weekend and there are hundreds of other boats out, I doubt you'll get noticed.

Great, now you guys have "boater profiling" to deal with. Selective enforcement-----way to go. When they need the money, they know where to get it too-----legally. I thought taxes were to fund law enforcement.

Anybody that thinks the actual department gets any money from issuing fines is way off base. Money generated through fines in court does not get paid to the department that issued the citation. The money goes into the county general fund. The fines paid by everyone don't even come close to being able to pay for the actual cost of services for police, courts and jails.

Jim I stayed at Robins resort last year for the Shootout. Very nice place to stay and they had a ramp right there at the resort which was handy. Also was close to partycove which was nice. Do you have a big group going?

I own a db meter, and a lawnmower,weedeater and outboard WP is above the limit. With so many life safety issues and loud stereos. Well it is what it is good luck, Hope everyone has a great & safe season!

Thanks all for the info on noise laws. I went ahead and put the pipes on. Sounds much better than the stock mufflers. I'll take my chances, try to blend in, and use quiet mode ... when I need to.

We're also staying at Robin's Resort for Memorial weekend and ready to "experience" PC for my 50th b-day. Be gentle, it's my first time.

i was at the shootout this year for the first time,had a great time&plan on going every year from now on.i saw the wp tell white lightning to move his boat,looked like they didn,t like the way he parked,after app 5 minutes he had not moved the boat,the wp got a little pizzed off and got loud with him.that wp guy was screaming at him,im not sure,but it looked like they don,t like him very much,if that wp cop is anything like the cops in the chicagoland area,white lightning will be on the hit list for a while.:ernaehrung004:

It was one WP,Hel1 your probably the guy WP said called on us.The 1 WP did'nt like how Tyson and Dennis parked either,ran us all off even the girls. In one more minute the boats would have spread enuff,it's all good,WL usually gets the blame,no big deal .....The big ticket was Dennis & Tyson on the sticks at 152 radar 161 gps SHOOTOUT CHAMPS on SMITH POWER! asfar as the dry pipes, you must just be one lucky SOB. I ran dry pipes last year and was pulled over first time out. by mid may I was on first name basis with WP. By june I was banded from the lake till I was in compliance. this was about imposable considering I was registered at 108db from about 100 yards. thank god for turn downs. loud as hell on plane quite as a cruiser at idle.

Yes and they will check you every time you go out on the lake...
