Best Upolstery KC / LOTO?

Is there any one in this area that does high quality upolstery that can give a factory look? It seems most interior re-dos I see don't look that great. Thanks in advance, Dave

Advanced Canvas and Upholstery, Todd Martin - Came from Chicago area, used to do oem for Active thunder, rapid craft etc. Tell him Jason sent you, 573-374-1796 I am sure others will confirm.

Is cost pretty competitive or do you pay a lot more for the quality? I'm considering having a highly-recommended shop in Wichita do some fixes on mine. Just wondering. Pardon me for the mild hijack.

Bilgerat 09-15-2009 08:14 AM

Depends what you call competitive, Advanced stuff is the best, i have seen several boats come thru my shop with the " i got a guy in kc to do it for x amount" usually x is half of what it would have cost to have Advanced do it right. Only problem is you spent less money but actually DEvaluated your boat by making it worse than it was, Fresh vinyl poorly done IMO is no different than crappy vinyl. Clearly there are other shops accross the county that are good, but here he is the man, By the way his brother is a very well known motorcycle seat maker, Alligator Bob (alligatorbob.com) It must run in the family. Advanced can give you that factory look, or make it completely different, I am trying to think of a few boats around to show you some pics of the difference, but only thing i have right now is a Cafe that Todd did, and it is basically all white with the embroidery etc.

So he is at LOTO or KC?

Bilgerat 09-15-2009 12:55 PM

Lake of the Ozarks, In Sunrise Beach 573-374-1796 on the west side of the lake. Actually he is on the kind of south edge of Laurie, Just off the highway, you can see his shop from Hwy. 5.

Let us know what boat you're looking to have done. If it's a 2000 Cig TG versus a 1992 (insert various other manufacturers here). I used a guy here in KC for my 1979 Cig and along with PPI out of Florida doing the logos, I thought it turned out really nice.

I used him for my 28 skater, my 32 active thunder, and 42 fountain...I have reccomended all my friends to him as well...he does an excellent job.....advanced canvas

Thanks for the replies guys......I'm a little surprised only 1 name came up, but I've really never seen re-done upolstery that looks that great...so I guess its Advanced. Thanks, Dave

Covers

Does he do full boat covers as well?
I am in SunriseBeach and may be in need of a 38 custom cover.

Bilgerat 09-23-2009 03:10 PM

Dave, Todd's right hand man is sitting in my office right now, looking at a cockpit cover for a cruiser, Just read this to him, give them a call 573-374-1796 Dave, Todd, or Esta Mae.

I can attest to the work they do at Advanced Canvas. I've known Todd for the 12 years he's been at the lake, and he produces quality. If you go down the lake and see a great fitting cover you can best believe it will have an Advanced Canvas tag on it. His interior work is also amazing. Seen the earlier post mentioning alligator bob, Todds brother, same deal, he does amazing seats for bikes. Quality workmanship must run in the family!

What is a price for an Advanced Canvas interior redo?

That will probably vary a lot depending on what needs to be done.

Yes, they do full boat covers. Another source for those would be Phil's Custom Canvas in Lake Ozark next to Berger's Marine. Phil just completed a full cover for my boat. His work equals that of Advanced Canvas and he is a bit cheaper. Can't go wrong either way.

Phil's has always done my custom covers and have sent a bunch of friends to him as well. He is reasonable and does excellent work. Give him a shot for good canvas work.

I used Custom Rods Interiors in KCK earlier this year. Ken did a complete factory matched cockpit interior for me and it looks great. I also seen a complete custom job he did and it looked great as well. May give them a call. Ken Robson 913-236-5116/913-593-8967

He was also way cheaper that other estimates with the same quality of work.
I've also took alot of stuff to Advanced Canvas when I was at LOTO and like others said, they are top notch. All good people in there. Heres a few pics of my new interior from Custom Rods.

I still need to have someone finish the vinyl hull & headliner in the berth. My attempt did not meet my expectations so i took it back down. Boat is located in Harrisonville. All my cushions are redone.
