Testing Waters: LOTO house rental
OSO friends: I own a small lakefront home on the Gravois arm, in a small cove, with a great view of the Gravois main water, a dock with 26' slip and lift that easily handles my 28', converted boat house into very comfortable and private guest sleeping quarters. 3 small BR sleeping areas in the main house. Nothing fancy, but comfortable, and in a great location. Neighbors, though few, are fantastic.
I am unable to visit often (though I do manage to visit and stay 1-2 week per season -- around major holidays) and am considering renting this house either full-time (year-round), or seasonally, or on a weekly basis. I am not thrilled about this, and have never been a property manager or landlord -- but it seems a waste to let this nice property sit for long periods of time unused. So, I'm looking for some advice from those of you who may be in a similiar situation at LOTO, and currently rent your houses at LOTO. Upsides/downsides? Thanks for any education you can pass my way. I love VRBO....great website that gets alot of attention. We have rented from individuals on there and never had a abad experience. Nicest part is that you handle who gets to stay and who doesn't. I have also used www.lakeoftheozarkrentals.com its owned by a husband and wife. Not sure if they own the properties or watch them for a commission.
