Shootout

We are planning a trip to LOTO for the shootout this year and are hoping to just stay on the boat. Any suggestions on a good place to rent a slip? It's a 38 foot boat and we would want power.

State park. PB2. Also, has shower facilities and such.

I'd also suggest State Park, Public Beach 2. Good location and an nice ride to the shoot out.

Ditto on what they said

Does Silver Sands offer dock space to those not staying in a room? I thought they had facilities too. Would be closer to Captain Rons where the Shootout takes place, but wouldnt get much rough water fun when everyone heads out for the day.

Call Bud Simmons at Pier 31 573-873-5283 they are right around the corner from the start, are somewhat protected, and have up to 110 oct gas.

Does anyone have an opinion on Bear Bottom Resort?

flying33 05-17-2010 08:47 AM

The bar restaraunt and slides rock. Have no idea about the resort or rooms.

I hope it works out as 10 of us are staying there for our first trip to LOTO and the shootout. I was told it is close to the action and that is all I really care about. I don't want to wish away the summer but I can't wait for this trip.

Griff 05-17-2010 12:43 PM

Its close to the Shootout and Capt Ron's, but about 15-20 miles by water or more from the best night time hotspots and restaurants.

Like was said, the food and waterslides are great. I don't know about the actual accomodations. It was an older resort that was purchased and upgraded.

boatfreak 05-17-2010 01:50 PM

Thanks for the info. Like I said I can't wait to get out there and check out the place.
Hey Griff, lets try to hook up for a beer sometime that weekend. I really like your boat. I've been out on it once a few years ago with Steve when he was visiting down in Florida.

It's a great place and the owners are awesome. It's close to the action and you will not be disappointed.

Another good place to eat that is close is Gators, it's on the 3mm of the Big Niangua.

I'm not sure if we are going to be down for the Shootout. We haven't been to one since it moved to Capt Ron's. It just does not work to well with the kids getting older and starting school a week before. I may just leave the wife at home with the kids and come down with a buddy.

I think Tantara Resort may have had covered slips with power that you could rent.
