Best Bars to go to in LOTO

I have been to LOTO a few times and have gone to Dog Days, Backwater Jacks and Horney Toad. I am visiting again in a few weeks and looking for some fun, crazy and busy places. Any Suggestions?

Frankie and Louie's, Jolly Roger's, Captain Ron's, Fish and Company, Coconut's, Dirty Duck, Big Dick's, etc...

I've never not had a good time at Dog Days or F & L's. In all the years I've been going to LOTO (12) I've never been to the Topsider. I guess I better check that one off the list soon!

Thanks for the info guys. I will definitely try to get to some of these next week!!

For you every weekend guys at LOTO, do they still have the maps with the bars on the water, etc. that they use to put out every year available?? I used to be there 12-15 weekends a summer but have not been down much last several to know if they are still producing it, if so, great resource with MM's and everything. Good luck, a few that we enjoy are Dockknockers, F&L's, Dog Days, Bulldogs Beachhouse MM33, Dick's Halfway Inn, Poop Deck at the bridge(same as Topsiders but day stop with pool), Gators, etc.. Have a blast!

X2 for Shady Gators. Just there last Saturday and it was very busy.

All of the mentioned are good. I like Coconuts- the water in the Gravois is never as rough. Good docks and helpful dock girls!

Dog days is a must and try the "pain in the ass"
dicks halfway inn - you have to do the Minos shot
top siders is a blast and usually where we spend our nights. All the others are better day time bars IMO

I have been to LOTO for the past 8 years and have never seen a boat parked at Topsiders. It always looks closed. We rented waverunners there once and the dock guy said thay charge $100 to dock on the busy nights. He could have been lying.

As far as coconuts the place is awesome and usually decent water getting there. Except over Labor Day weekend. It was a big washing machine.

Topsider is mainly a Friday night deal. $100 well spent!

+1 $100 is equal to about 13 drinks not including tips. No brainer, plus half the time the party on the dock is more fun than the party up the steps.

iandoolin 09-20-2010 09:16 PM

So the 100 bucks includes drinks?

No, but if you come with about 6 people on your boat and your own booze, you can drink it on the dock instead of paying for drinks at 7-10 bucks each.
A lot of the cruisers have 20 people on them, so its well worth it.

There is also a $10 cover per person on Fridays.

Started going to LOTO in 1998. I've had some crazy nights at the lake over the years. Many of them were at Topsiders.

Been going every year since 1999 (with the exception of my first visit in '77 at age 13) and that is probably one of the few places I've never been to. And I have no good reason as to why that is. Especially since I used to stay at Parkview Bay and Land's End.

Everynight is a different hot spot depending on what your wanting to do. just hang out, dance, party like rock stars,etc..
Top Siders is a good time for sure, even better if you know people who know people and you get free parking. :lolhit:
Definitely plan to party on the dock.

cpiefer06 09-24-2010 12:57 PM

Topsiders has a free dock and a pay dock or "reserved" as one would say. We have never done the pay side and have gone there every time down and loved it. But as someone else said and we have seen it true, the party on the reserved dock is as good as in the place!

lotojim 10-04-2010 08:52 AM

Didn't work. Try the one below!

lotojim 10-04-2010 09:00 AM

Give this a shot. It might help get around.

How come??? I have a place around the corner from Topsiders and pass it everyweek end many times. I have yet to stop in . It looks abandoned. I've never seen a party on the dock or deck. I'm I missing something? I'd be stopping if it was going to be a good time. $100.00 to dock your boat and drinks are not included......then what is??? What am I going to get for 100.00.? Hell, I can go to Dogs, BWJ, Dorseys, Shorty Pants, ect and it won't cost a penny to dock there. Still not sure what my 100.00 will get me. If they really are charging to dock then maybe thats why there are no boats there.

Griff 10-04-2010 01:26 PM

Topsiders really does not start getting busy until about 10pm.

The $100 is for parking only. A lot of the slips are reserved for the entire season on Friday nights. On most regular weekends, the new docks are reserved and the older ones are free. Holidays and big weekends they will charge for both. Last time I went a holiday, it was $50 on the old docks. You can't get onto the docks with out a wristband saying you came from the docks and you can only get on the pier you came from.

Actually there are a lot more people that come by car than by boat on Friday nights. It is more of a dance club than most other bars at the lake and girls don't wanna mess up their hair going by boat. We have been on several Sat nights and it was still a decent crowd, especially on holiday weekends. No docking fee either.

Fixxxer22 10-04-2010 01:51 PM

Monday night at topsider is crazy too! free docking at 1 dollar everything. (not all shots). its wild.

We must have got lucky because we went there fri night weekend of the poker run & didnt have to pay a dime for the slip. New docks too. Still not a big fan of the place, too loud inside & too many steps/levels to find people.
