Northern Illinois river boat'n

Hows the spring boating looking on the Il river? Here on the Mississippi its not happening due to flooding. Il river looks like closest solution.

we're lookin great she went up a bit with the heavy rains and back to normal where she was all last summer.. 6 to 8 is normal everyday for the charts

mreedy 03-23-2011 07:09 PM

Kool, when you get a chance shoot me some hotel spots. Any with docks??
Sounds like where screwed here. hitting Flood stage by sunday and by mid april there expecting to break record levels.

cpiefer06 03-23-2011 08:03 PM

Just head up to the Dubuque pool, thats what we do for early boating each year. They seem to be better suited for high water and the landings are easy to use. Our Savanna pool doesn't really open up till may so thats why we head up river and put in by the Yard Arm.

mreedy 03-23-2011 08:13 PM

I'm pretty sure Dabuque was expected to break flood plane by 3-30. From all reports I've seen the high waters are expected to stay a while. I'll have to look into that area a little harder.

Thanks

It is not the rain that is the main cause but the amount of snow yet to melt up north and then I think they got hit with the single most amount of snow this winter yesterday. The Dubuque pool works out better than the Savanna pool because the Savanna pool holds an enormous amount of water, so to save southern pools they fill and hold as much as they can in the Savanna one. Dubuque area set up better to handle high water and still function.

Hope your right about dabuques pool as that would also be a short travel for me.
