Shootout lodging
Hey guys, been planning on going to the shootout in a big boat, but now taking my little MasterCraft 23 footer since sold my bigger boat and a friend backed out. Anyone have a recommendation on a condo or something I could rent close to the nowake zone so I don't get washed out?

Shoot Out Lodging
Give Red Oak Resort a call 573-873-9400 , you can get your fuel at 5-65 Marina. Both are in Standing Rock Cove. They are just across the channel from the action. The water calm at the resort and 5-65 Marina.

Yes red oaks nice clean place close to shootout
If you stay close to area of race leave early and stay after shoot out and you will be fine |
If you stay at red oak and use the ramp be carefull of the shallow rocks. And the drive out of the ramp is steep..

Been trying to get into Red Oak, but they are sold out and nothing has opened up so far. Any other suggestions close to the no wake zone would be appreciated. Thanks!

This isn't much help for what you are looking for, but here is an option. We are staying at www.tan-tar-a.com (tell them Shootout special rate $75 night) which is at MM26 8 miles away. It isn't that bad if you take your time and leave before the race ends, or hang out around Captain Rons for an hour or 2 after the races to let the water settle a bit.

We live at the 23MM and your suggestion is perfect, leave early and when it's over just chill and go over to C-Ron's for a bit and then head home, you'll be fine, I've seen smaller boats than yours and they've done fine.
The roughest part is when it's over a lot of speed freaks and cruisers just tear up the Lake, but it settles down pretty quick, have fun. |
can you actually find a slip to tie up to at Captain Rons after the shootout? I would think they would be packed!

It might be hard to find one, but you can just float around and check out the sceenery or drop passengers off to walk the dock. Not ideal, but might be better for some, than battling the big waves. We usually leave so we can help our friend Greg slip his race boat when he returns, cleanup then go have dinner and drinks somewhere.
