Setups on 30 Outboards
Anybody have any tips ?
I have a 30 with 2.5 efi's everytime I work on it we go slower. Best speed since engine rebuilds 92. I need to raise the motors, but I cant get one to turn up, its been in the fiberglass shop for 3 months. Im having the back seat permantly attached, and getting nicks and dings fixed. When it gets back it will also have a new interior. Curtis |
Re: Setups on 30 Outboards
Yahoo, I have a 2000, 30 ft w/ 2.5 efi ro's . I bought it with one bad powerhead. I fixed the powerhead and I had it out for one run , but I could not run it hard due to breaking in the new P.H. I since have ran out of good weather here in the northeast. If the weather breaks at all soon I will run the boat and give you my results . Tom

Send me some pics.
How do you like the back seat ? Curtis |
Re: Setups on 30 Outboards
Could be the boxes were reset to breakin mode. Or it could be a weak powerhead. I would ask your engine rebuilder.

Re: Setups on 30 Outboards
I have a 30 with twin 300 promax 's best speed so far has been 110mph
motor height is 1 7/8'' above the bottom on 5'' set back cmc plates. 15''x34'' cleavers turning OUT . I tried turning the props turning IN and lost 4-5 mph in back to back runs. I also tries 14 3/4'' diameter props and slowed way down My boat weighs 4400# |
Re: Setups on 30 Outboards
thanks thats info I can use, all my props are like 14.5 or smaller. First thing Im going todo is turn them out and check the drive height.
Now I just need a little bit better weather. CM |
Re: Setups on 30 Outboards
What gear ratio do you run ?
|
Re: Setups on 30 Outboards
The 300X uses a 1.62 gear ratio as it does not turn RPM. It is a torque motor. The 2.5's like the 1.87 best. They like RPM. You must run 15" props on your boat. 15x32 will probably be the best setup.
