fuel tanks in a Motion...
Wondered if the fuel tanks in a Motion are glass or aluminum.Any trouble with the ethanol blend fuel??

Motion tanks are fiberglass. Some are having problems, and others have not. Easiest way to check is to remove the fuel filter and cut it apart. There will be goal/amber chips in the bottom of the fuel filter.
To fix this problem you have to cut the top of the tank off and cover the tank with a two part expoxy. hope this helps. |
Mine are aluminum 1994 25'

My tanks are aluminum also 91 25.0

my are aluminum......

You are all very lucky. My last two 30 Motions have both been Fiberglass and I had to redo them both.......

It depends on year and what model boat.

How big of a task was it to repair the tanks? I'm looking at a boat that might have the same problem...

Regardless of materials used (fiberglass, Aluminum or stainless ) IMHO it may be appropriate to consider DUAL vents, a water trap and two flapper valves for the purpose of slowing if not eliminating ambient air when fuel is not being drawn. Further, as fuel is being drawn the water trap is TO collect moisture, without restriction. Subject to plumbing design, the system should breath without positive or negative tank pressure. |
