Usually my Motion does not like smooth water. It tends to run a little slower than normal and proposes a little more. Mine ran the best in a 1 to 2 foot chop.

You might want to measure your X dimension and see where you are at. It the motors are too low in the water that will also slow you down.

Hope this helps

Most Cat's used as pleasure boats turn the props out becasue it gives the boat better handling. Turning them in willl give you an extra 1 or 2 Mph but is a little more of a handful. My 2002 Motion with 300x's had the props turning in. My 2003 Motion with 2.5's has them turning out.

The X dimension should be 1.5 to 1.75 above the running surface.

What props do you have on the boat? How much fuel were you carring? How many people were with you?

15x30 labbed cleavers,1/2 tank each side,1 passenger,hot and humid.

What rpm are you spinning?

awsomethunder 07-07-2008 06:52 AM

about 6500

Thats 11% slip.. I'm not sure whats a normal slip ratio on a cat. I know I have mine down to 9% now and I'm not sure if I can do better.

awsomethunder 07-07-2008 02:24 PM

what are you spinning for props?

2 Trick Rick 07-07-2008 04:13 PM

15X25 Hydromotives at 8200/8300 rpm. 83/84mph

awsomethunder 07-07-2008 04:19 PM

these labbed 15x30 are a pain to get on plain.was thinking of switching to some 4 blades but right now i need my motor running more than anything

2 Trick Rick 07-07-2008 05:33 PM

My boat just wont run right with 3 blades, I need the 4 blades for extra stern lift. I'm looking for some 26p or even 27p Hydros to keep the same speed (85 max) while lowering the rpm's, I just dont like spinning them that high.
