30 Motion Project

3 Attachment(s)
Hello All-

Well most of you know I purcashed a 2003 30 motion over the summer. It was my second 30 motion and I wanted to do something different with this one.

As like most of you I really like to see pictures of boats being redone. So I thought I would start a new thread showing the progress.

This link shows the before pictures.

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/m...30-motion.html

Since I bought the I have done some major improments/ additions:
1) Redid the fiberglass fuel tanks (due to ethanol)
2) Change steering from right hand to left hand drive
3) Installed a full wrap around windsheild
4) Rebuilt both lowers
5) Custom Clarion Stereo System
6) Black anti glare dash

In Process:
7) Custom made dash panels
8) Custom rear passenger footrests
9) Custom Passenger handles
10) New GPS
11) New anodized parts!!!!!
12) Rear View Mirror
13) Intercom System
14) Additon of some new graphics

Here are a few pictures of the build as of today. Should be on the water by Saturday!

Thanks Frank! yeah it has been alot of work re building the boat, but it will be worth it. I have been painting dash/ counsel panels all week and now I can finally finish the rest of the interior. Should be up and running by Saturday. I will be taking more pictures tonight and I continue the build.

You did a great job. Now I know where to go if I want to re-do a boat.

Left side steering, interesting choice.

I have thought about dual side mirrors, you will have to let me know how the rear view mirror works out. Looking back between the front seats, I wonder if the field of vision is usefull?

Thanks Frank-

We are not quite done yet, I have a few more this up my sleeve for this project.

Yeah the left side drive is different for some people, but i really like it. I had a hard time having the throttles on the right side of me. My old motion was setup this way so I decided to switch this one over too.

Also the center mirror works great. A friend of mine down here has a 30 spectre with the mirror in the middle and after riding in that I had to get one. Makes it much easier to drive in a crowded area.

Nice job. I really like the windshield. I had a 30 Motion and after a Poker Run your neck would be sore and your ears ringing from the wind. It was a factor in getting rid of the boat. I also rig all my boats with LH steering. I much prefer to throttle with my right hand. Look how many people complain about Fountian boats with LH throttles? RH steering was started years ago to counter act the prop wanting to twist the boat on outboards. Any reason to have RH steering on a offshore boat unless racing with a throttle man????? This isn't England...

Unless you want to walk between the seats to get to a cabin. Some boats still do have stand up seats.

Brad Zastrow 11-26-2008 11:07 AM

You are right about the V-Hulls, it would be tough have throttles in the middle. However then there are cats. They ride so nice no need for stand up seats. And cuddy cabins are for cruisers. LOL :evilb:

I agree 100%. Nothing rides like a cat.

Well I finished the boat late Wednesday night and took the boat out this morning. A few small bugs to work out tomorrow but all in all it ran really well. Here are a few pictures of the finshed project.

Here are a few more pictures from the Fort Myers Offshore fun run. All the good pictures were taken from JayBoat here on OSO. The new windshield is awsome I am able to wear a hat at any speed and it will not blow off!

Where did you get the straps for the back seat? Those would be greatly appreciated by some passengers.

Home Depot. LOL. I made them from 3 6' hold down straps that I cut off the ends, cut them into two sections and mounted them with a Stainless Screw and Stainless fender washer. I had about $20 into them. Each handle strap is 3 feet long.

will be in the market for a new cat this coming spring or summer. Unfortunately, it won't be another Motion, as the wife wants a small cabin... (it was her only complaint with our old boat) so I will likely end up with an Eliminator or DCB.

LOL. That would be Amanda, she is my better half. She is fairly new to the go fast world but she has jumped in with both feet. Now she wants a faster boat........ That will have to wait for a while........ By the way, she loves your boat!
