Looking for 30' motion with 300's
Looking for a 30' motion with 300's. The earlier style pleasure cockpit not the poker run seating. I've looked closely at Boattrader, powerboatlistings, classifieds here, and scream and fly. Just wondering if anything else is out there?

Would lean more towards a 28 Skater. If you have a certain budget, i would than go with Spectre. Just my opinion.

Lots of Motion's had delamination issues. Also Spectre in my opinion has a much better laminiation scheduled and much better finish. Speed wise there just about the same. My opinion.

Motions delam problems are pretty well known. They seem like a big cat in the water. A Friend picked up a Spectre used a couple of years back.Check the rigging. The rigging was terrible and heard of a second Spectre with rigging issues also.As Skatermike stated I think the Spectre is better built. I am interested also in moving up to a 28 or 30 Captiva also. Keep us posted on what you buy and how you like it.

I would like to more about the delamination problems, I am running a 2009 Motion XP with twin 300xs motors, that I am considering selling. It is down in Havasu right now as I am having some upgrades and rigging work down. I am working to make it a little faster boat.

I didn't know about the delamination issues. I really like the size of the cockpit in the 30' Motion.
How many of you Skeeter boys pull up to the Sunoco station and fill it up with 93 without freaking out about that little decal that says ; May contain 10% or less Ethanol ? What kind of coring do them Skeeter's have ? Amazing how the cheapest made boat's are held in such high regard. Bet you fella's had to run out and buy a new I Phone 6 last month . There are guys who can break an anvil with a rubber mallet. Don't blame the hull on an incompetent owner/rigger/driver . |
What's the story on Triple Shoot Motion 30 for sale on Boat Trader? Does any one have any details about it's history. It has a pair of 300X motors on it now. Thanks

I owned a 2001 30 Motion for about 5 years and never had any delamination issues. The fit and finish wasn't by any means perfect, but I did not have any issues with the build of the boat. To the contrary, I thought it was pretty well built and a solid ride. It definitely rode like a bigger boat.

Why am I responding to a month's old thread ? That's easy , ask the "jello heads" how many are afraid of a little ol Sunoco 93 pump and instead of answering with a simple "me" they delete the whole thread . 93 must fog up their rose colored glasses :picard1: |

Of course you didn't have any problems with delamination . It's all the "jello tankers" have to go by "well they had a lamination schedule issue" LOL

Well , if you can afford it .......... Those other boats fall apart ........ The lamination schedule is inferior ........ And on and on and on . This of course has me put them in the same class of people who know that there is a merge situation one mile ahead , yet they are the one's who have to stay in the closing lane and force their way in at the last possible second slowing everyone , including them self's down to a snail's pace . I'll bet they have never never ever mixed five gallon's of resin in their life , yet they can parret a narrative about poor quality of other's while they are waiting in line to have peter's neighbor fix their tanks for the third or fourth time . Mention a set of aluminum tanks and your labeled as a "d-bag" . Peter said this , Peter said that . Free thinkers would say , I don't care what the minion's think , If I put a set of anodized aluminum tanks in foam , they will last forever while running straight alky . I'm not a big fan of cutting boat's to ribbon's straight out of the mold and glueing it back together in a different configuration either , but that's how you get a personalized model . So let me get that straight , you cant order a real gas tank , but he is willing to cut the hull into three or four pieces , longer , wider , shorter , taller , what ever you want ? I have seen a lot of kool-aid passed around over the years . Even been dumb enough to drink some of it . Today , I would rather ask the tough questions to you as well as myself . Not everyone is willing to grab a shovel and start digging . It's easier to be a sheeple , I get it . I really don't expect for them to want to be my BFF , One guy said , TubeCarz bring's up some valid points . I would have enjoyed a technical debate about those points , and where and if I was wrong , I would have thanked the person . However the whole thread was cut . Just as well , those guys called me some pretty vulgar names . Yet somehow , I'm the negative one . Let's see what kind of a man you are . Go find where I called someone a bad name ( nik-names don't count) or called their boat a POS . Bring it to my attention and I'll put my hand in the air . But if you don't find anything but hard question's then I expect you to do the same . Unless I'm wrong about you . I would love to see your rig an see how it runs , keep the negative **** to your self |
I have a 30 motion, how do you guys get rid of the hop/porpise ? My boat has ROS 280
|
A 30' with two 280's won't have the torque to quickly drive thru the hop like a triple will. So you have to do what you can to move weight forward . Shorter transom brackets , move the battery's to the front , less prop , etc .
Just before it start's loping you can start turning in a bit of a gentle arc , that will help it break free and get on top a little easier . Hope that helps . |

Their are many ways to help the hop where it's not as bad but you will have it at certain speeds. |
