Diesels/
Does anybody know what diesels will be offered in the MTI 55 and what kind of performance can be expected?
|
All MtI's are built to customer needs. That's what makes it nice!

I need one for about 100k, any ideas? :drink: On second thought, I'll just take yours and you can start over.......I mean how long can it take , right? :drink: |
Right. So I'd specifiy Cat C32's. 1800hp and who knows how much torque. :D
|
Wellllll......I have had this conversation with Randy before. Depending on the weight of that C32, it is very very doable. Ideally the 55' would be rigged with power that weighs 2000lbs or less per side. I am no diesel genius but I would bet the C32 weighs more than that. You also could rig a single diesel powerplant putting out 1800 HP connected to 2 seperate surface drives. Performance would be directly related to the overall weight of the power.
I believe the 39' with diesel power ran in the mid 80's. |

What about trying a few of the Yanmars, actually 4 of them. I had 2 in my 4300 V, 480/935 very reliable, good resale and are warrantied at many area's. Good luck:cool:
|
39' MTI ran 92mph it should of had a 2 speed gearbox. I think it could have gone a 100 with some major work.
|
Is seatek a good brand of diesel power?
|
http://www.seatek-spa.com/950plus_gb.htm a couple of these would do the trick. :D

It would be like buying a high strung motor...1400hp..., and expecting it to last more than 100 hours without any problems. Yanmar and Cummins are the way to go, higher reving diesels 3200-3400rpms, great hp to torque ratio, dealer network for servicing and most of all, excellent resale. Jeff |
What about the IMCO Duramax?
|
If less than 2000# is the target weight, looks like you are into a low hp diesel or a higher hp wanna be diesel. You could get into a Cat C7/3126E that would have torque around 900#' and weigh 1800# or so. Now you could get into a Cat C13 and get torque close to 2000#' and have a weight of around 2600# :D .

The Banks is suppose to be out in a week or so, but they are coming out with their highest hp version first. I would like a lower hp verson with more durability, then I could put 3 in my next Nortech V, vs the 2 Yanmars I had. Jeff |
Is Banksbuilding it?

Diesel Kilo 165
Scism Holds That Record Overseas

Does anybody knows what kind of power the banks marine duramax is making?

How fast is 'ok'? |

Catmando we ran 102 but had a hard time getting on plain. 92 was the best with the boat getting up. A 2 speed gearbox wood do the trick. ( hard time means about 2 miles)

Diesels make no sense in a light weight high performance cat. If you want to burn diesel fuel get a turbine.

I've always liked turbines. Except for price they make sense on so many levels. |
