8 person cockpit

Just starting to think about looking at a few of these that are out there, anyone have any experiences or advice on the MTI 8 person cockpit setup? Boat handling, speeds with engines, wind, etc.

Have more than 4 people that want to ride, seems like the perfect solution???

I own Rare Breed a 8 person, Mine works great for us we have two daughters, one being a senior in college that always brings a lot of friends, I have had as many as 13 people in my boat, lots of cockpit room, big cuddys, vacuflush head etc. the boat runs and rides like any 42-44 MTI, It has the same bottom as any 44 MTI just a different top cap. AND MINE IS FOR SALE!!!Mine with 1100 Eickerts runs 130, will probably do better with a prop change, getting ready to try some differant Herrings, wind is not a big issue on mine I have electric wind screens that you can set with the push of a button

Boat is a beauty!! Do you lose any visibility coming up on plane, what are your planing times and minimum speed to keep on plane etc. Do you have any experience with #6 or equiv. against your direct drives? Have had nothing but v-bottoms so this is going to be a pretty big switch.

Visabilty is not a issue going on plane, goes on plane basically flat, I cant tell you planing speed, but planes very easally, I have the Powerboat magizine performance report that was done on my boat, give me a fax number, article says time to plane is 5.7 seconds, it has other useful results as well. This is my first cat, I still own a # 6 42 Fountain as well, I have owned several 100mph+ vee- bottoms, I would not go back to a Vee, the cat is a much safer boat if you want to run thriple digit speeds, Call me if you want 918-914-2875 Mike McAnaw
