40' with 700 SCIs Speed
What are obtainable speeds of 40 MTI with 700 SCi's and what is normal with gear and gas. I've heard numbers but have not rode in one. Thanks, Brian

Had a 40 ft with 700s, ran between 121 - 125 , depending on load. Did hit 127 once.

MTI is best Cat Performance boat out there, IMO. The boat handles wonderfully with 700's without the maintenance issues of bigger motors. Most of the time the pack was running 100-120 so you are in there. If you haven't driven one you need to. Call Cary or David at Pier 57. They'll take you out.
Shallow, No I went to a Cig CC. We are looking at a place in Florida and wanted something that would fit South Florida better. Like the simple maintenance of the CC. Our plan is to visit as many places as we can till we find the area we like most and the CC seemed to fit that bill better. I will be back in an MTI someday. |
Aldo, i always loved the blue/grey colors on your 40.. ill miss seeing it!.. Pier57 currently has a gorgeous 2008 40 w/700s if anyone saw it... awesome boat!

What RPM does it require to "pack the tunnel."
I have been in some of the larger cats and they don't seem to settle until 80-90 MPH which required 4500+ RPM. What is is like between 3500-4000 RPM? What I am getting at is, does the small power make since if you have to run them 80+% all the time. |
A lot depended on the water conditions. The chopper the easier it packed. Generally speaking hit the sweat spot at about 80. My friend has a 42 with 1075's and his was about the same.
