Any 340X's for sale that are not listed on here?

400s/450s? Budget? Location? etc

400’s, location or price doesn’t matter. I have seen all those that are listed.

just curious, why 400s and not 450s?

Primarily insurance as a first time cat owner and the fact that a lot of 400 boat owners are trading up to 450’s and more used 400 boats available.

Thank you for sharing. That is interesting insurance-wise. Even with 450's, combined is 900HP. For many cats, that's the horse of one motor, when talking inboard/outboard. When I think about the Merc 450s, I think about the 496 HO power plant @ 425HP. Not really craziness in the cat world.

I've owned two Nortech 36 cats. The second with a pair of 1075 turned up to 1350. A stark comparison horsepower-wise. I think for that boat I was around 3500 dollars a year with a 6 month layup. Seems 100 horse when you're talking a pair of 400s vs 450s wouldn't make much difference. Have you shopped insurance? What is the difference in price between the two power plants? These are awesome boats! Good luck with your search.

Most insurance companies look @ speed, not HP

I was told the magic number was 120mph.

Over/Under 120 seems to be the mark.

Value of a 450 boat vs 400 boat will make a little bit of INS cost difference too.

This 34' was Taylor Scism's personal boat. Then mine. It is the best setup 34' built as she is Randy's daughter and you know how that goes. The green was vinyl to personalize it for us. So its the deck logo.
