I don't know, just going by the articles that state the magnesium is best for freshwater use, so that's what I use. I think the ones Merc installs are zinc, to cover both bases???? Figured go the best protection given an option. Thanks for the response. I'm going to be needing 2 kits when I decide what material.
MaryAnn always wins. :) Zinc - Saltwater Brackish Aluminum - Fresh Brackish Salt Magnesium - Fresh (too reactive for salt water), brackish kinda ok but not recommended. But my thought is that if you're in an cathode anode relationship caused by someone's line in the water with a hole in it, zinc or aluminum would be just fine. I'd like to know of some real life experiences. Science is science, but real life usually trumps... :-). |
So US1 which one did you go with? I need to replace 2 sets on bravo 3's in Lake Erie.
