I think if you build a nor tech in any size and use any other power you are making a mistake not that I know what I'm saying or do I!!!!!!

Re: Merc 1075

1075's are putting out 1140hp now, great motor but as all high hp motors they are expensive to operate, they cost approx 1,000$/ hour when you figure a 50 hour rebuild is 50k, you have to pay to play, but a 700k boat with insurance, payments, fuel, motor maintenance, depreciation, all in all is about 4-5k/hour to operate, thats steep, but true.

Hey Fellas. I am a newbie on here... After reading some different threads on big Merc rebuild intervals and the costs associated with this, I did a little research of my own and came upon an interview with Dan Koch, the head of Mercury Racing, in Poker Runs America. He discussed in great detail the Merc "Factory Refresh" program in which he states the normal rebuild intervals being 100-120hrs, depending on the level of abuse, for the 850SCi and 1075SCi, and 75hrs. on the 1200SCi with the cost being $22,810 as long as there are no big surprises when they open up the motor. Definitely not cheap, but not as bad as some of the figures I had read. Hope this helps.

Welcome to the site NUGE! :drink:

Those numbers are a lot higher than we have seen. The refresh cost is lower though. I understand the 1200 needs 110 octane. Did he say anything about that? There are a lot of builders with 1200hp motors that can run on 93 octane.

Those refresh $ from Mercury are correct.

$22,810.00 is list price... If you contact your local Mercury Racing dealer you may get a better deal...
