I'm looking for my next boat and have been looking at going to a 38 V, but I am considering a 33-36 Cat. Specifically a 33 or 36 Daytona or a 36 Nortech.
We spend the majority of our boating time in the local large lakes, rivers and inter costal but we do spend time offshore in the keys and local bay area's. Of course hitting two or three poker runs throughout the year. I can get a key feature on the Daytona that I can not get on the Nortech. We have kids that currently enjoy our MCOB configuration and Eliminator can give us that option with a convertible hardtop. I'm not necessarily looking to run 140, so top speed is not my priority. 110-120 would be plenty (did I just say that?) Anyway, I am more interested in ride quality, stability, handling, etc. I don't want this to turn into a "who's got the best cat thread", but would like to hear from anyone how has experience with either or both of these rigs and give your honest opinion on the above. Thanks much I appreciate the opinions, Jack I’ve owned a 27’ canopy and 33’ tall deck Eliminator and while both were awesome boats I purchased a 36’ Nortech last year and it’s hands down a totally different boat from the Eliminator. The bigger water has no effects on this boat at all. I boat on Cumberland and depending on the time of year the water can get 3’-4’ and the Nortech steps right over it at any speed. My 27 or 33 would get you soaked from the mist coming over the bow at lower speeds and beat you at speeds above 80 mph. The Nortech will do neither and out turn the Eliminator at speed as well due to no center pod. Moderate HP will push the boat at the MPH your looking for as well. I plan on taking the boat to the Keys next year and have seen many others with the 36 Nortech run those poker runs with no problems as well. Just had a good friend of mine that bought a repo 36’ Eliminator coupe so I’ll get to see the apple to apple this year! I still like the Eliminator boat and feel they make a quality product, however if I was buying new today I would buy the Nortech especially if I lived in the Florida region. Hope this helps and good luck, Mike |
Thanks guys, that's the type of feedback I was looking for.
As I mentioned the Eliminator has some deck offerings that could be critical to my decision and I have already spoken to the guy's out west. I still need to have some conversation with the guys form Nortech and will certainly do so before making any type of decision. I have been up close and personal with the 36 Nortech but will need additional seat time in both to make an educated decision. That Yellow 36, although appears to be a good deal isn't doing it for me. I assume it looks better in person then in the pics. The Two Face and Gunslinger are boats that really draw my attention, and are both back on the market.. hummm Mike, did your friend buy that 36 Coupe in KY? I was inquiring about that boat and im sure he got a hellova deal on it. It will be nice to see some one on one comparisons this summer when the two of you get together. In fact maybe I need to make a trip. :) I'm in no real hurry and will analyzes both boats to death before making a decision, so any other comments or insights are welcome. Thanks, Jack |

I'm looking forward to the one on one comparison myself. Either boat you choose to buy will be an awesome addition for anyone. If you find yourself in the bluegrass state give me a shout and will try out both boats if you haven’t purchased one by the boating season. Mike |

Thanks, Jack It sounds like what you are liking is the paint job....keep in mind for 10-15k you could easily modify a paint job and or get a complete simple paint job for 25-30k on those Nor-Techs. Nor-Tech does have an in house painter..Paul...check the yellow boat out, get a survey, it's priced right, and knowing the yellow doesn't turn you're crank, it can always be altered in someway down the road. Good Luck Jeff |
Jeff,
Very good point, but its not just the paint, that boat would require some rework, as I require a six person seating arrangement. Certianly not knocking that boat, that is a hellova deal for sure and I believe that is right around the power needed to get me where I want to be, just won't fit my needs but someone is gonna get a steal. |

Sorry to chime in like this . But does anybody know the LOSE CANNON Boat ??????
|
Loose Cannon is a 36 nortech with cobra 1200's and 6's , owner is Joe Spina

I looked at a 36 daytona before getting my NT. The NT is much more boat.
I liked the high back bolster seats in ther NT. The seats in the NT keep you in place, which is needed if your ever going to run in anything other then flat conditions. Also, with the 6 seat arrangement in the NT, you don thave the rear bolsters. The seats are tight, and took a little while to get used to, especially since coming from a stand up V, but are great while running. When not running, i put a couple throw cusions on the seat or sit on the arm rest to get above the windsheild to get the breeze. |
