Our home made steering resevoir tank. Not perfectectly straight, but cheap and works great. I can re make it later and get it a little straighter.

Engines are at the machine shop right now. I took them back out a couple weeks ago. We were getting a lot of seepage through the head gaskets after I installed the T stats. Pulled the engines down, and the blocks and heads weren't decked when these engines were originally machined 5 years ago.
This is a machine shop that I have since stopped using a long time ago, but these engines were still on hand. I am actually glad someone did not buy them because it would have been a nightmare for them and me. I had Bob Madero cut me a new set of HR cams for it. We upgraded all the valves to inconel, and making a few other adjustments. They should be ready to dyno by the end of the week. I want it back together before the end of the year. I think it will happen. I have some other winter projects to do and I don;t need this one getting in the way. It should be a pretty sweet ride. Bob thinks these engines should be between 550 and 600 HP. |
It is a sweet rig! Very light. I am looking forward to coats and ski masks for the winter boating season.

Engines are back from the shop. Good job RMBUILDER on the cams. These numbers are with as cast iron oval port merlin heads. We cahnged valves to inconel and springs to comp, otherwise these engines are with out of the box, as cast parts.
only about 9.3:1 comp. 750 carbs and dual plane intakes. 496CI. 428,431 HP at 5300 480, 485 lbs at 4400 Huge torque curve between 3000 and 4000 I really should be putting these in my sea ray with those numbers, but I wan't to see how these little engines will make this boat run. Looks like maximum fuel consumption is around 30gals an hour at WOT. Good job to Owens racing for perfectly matching machine work to get the numbers to almost match. They are getting dressed and ready to install again. Hopefully this week. Here is one sheet and a comparison against the old cams I had in there. |
