Muffler Noise Reduction
Has anyone found a muffler system to successfully achieve 88 decibels on twin 1,000 hp motors with no reversion. I already know about steath and turndowns. Too much back pressure with steath with low rpm motor (difficulty with tuning EFI) and turn downs look weird on a Cat. Suggestions?

I put GGB mufflers on my 43 with 900 sounds great and you can have a conversations with the motor running. don't know about the decibels ratings but it is Qwest. the company is out of Canada.

Did you put GGB mufflers online or clamp on tips? My boat is at NorTech, thanks for the recommendation.
|
Mine Is at Nortech as well, I belive they are clamp on. give the guys at GGB a call they are very helpfull or Ask roy (tell him Vinny's Boat) to look at mine. They do a great job.
My Mechanic dave at Wesco recommended them and he put them on. |
I've heard really good things about the GGB mufflers, but I'd like to see some dyno results showing how much power impact they might have.
|
They guys at GGB gave me dyno test data on a 900 HP motor and the HP loss was minimal at at about 2-3 HP. Cant find them or i would have attached them.

Thanks Vinny. I talked to Trond this morning and he is going to call GGB today. They are recommending 24" inserts for my boat to get below 90 dec.

GK where in Tampa are you ? We just purchased a home in Clearwater Beach and and am considering bringing our Nor Tech down from LOTO. I also ordered a set of 24" to comply w/ noise laws here
