Water Testing Tomorrow
#7
First day was a disaster. Yesterday we fired them for the first time on the hose, they fired instantly and sounded great. Put it in the water today and cant get it to idle and wont go over 1200 rpm's in gear. Bring it back to the shop and go through the carbs and run a larger wire from the ignition switch (spark would shut down and would not start for about 5 minutes each time it would stall). Go back to the water at 6 PM and the engines are still not running right but we are able to run the boat. Get out in the lake and it runs up to about 20 MPH and brakes the props loose nose starts to settle down and the props would grab again and cuts the engines out. Burned my hand, cut my leg and cut the end of 1 of my fingers.....done for today.

Damn Brian, your having worse luck than me! I finally got it in the water, fired right up, idled great down the river, oil pressure and temp are great. pops right up on plane. After a few I go to give it some heat and it falls on its face about 3000 rpm. Flat out quits. I pull the throttle back and its going again. As soon as I inch her back up to 3000 rpm it cuts out again. Stop and try to rev it out in neutral and same thing.
Friday I am going to make a fuel pressure tester and the tack is acting funny so I am going to disconnect it, check all the grounds and the cap and rotor. If that doesn't fix it I will probably be calling you next week to scan it and see what its doing. Hopefully the old girl isn't thinking I haven't spent enough money on her yet.
She does run really strong until it cuts out though.
