36' nortech

Hey guys looking for some boat buying advice I know for sure the next boat I want to purchase is a 36' Nortech supercat the question is what power should I go with? also what are the pros and cons of these boats I currently have a 2006 30' baja outlaw with twin 496 HO motors which runs real close to 80 mph ive owned it three years it has been a great boat I'm just looking to step up to something a little bigger and faster like most of you all eventually do some advice would be greatly appreciated thanks guys.

With Eddie young power, a friends 36 nt ran 161 at Biloxi shoot out.. Might of had a lil more in her, the end of run had high cross winds!

So how fast do you wanna go! ?

Oops, think they were around 1300 a side

I guess 125-140 ish would be plenty fast for me at the moment Im more concerened with reliability I dont want to have to freshen engines every 50 hours so maybe the 700s or 850s would be a good starting point for me does anyone have any advice on to go with mercury power or not?

I'd recommend Mercury 700's. Less maintenance and much better fuel economy than the 850/1075 platform and the 850/1075's have a recommended refresh at 100 hours. I've heard of 700's going several hundred hours. I moved from a 100 mph v bottom to a 140 mph cat and it was a drastic jump. Be safe and get some good seat time and instruction.

BTW the 36 NT IMO is one of the best cat's out there, it's a huge beast! Put it next to a 40/42 MTI and it dwarfs them.

I was very happy with my 700 boat. Very reliable package. I wouldn't go with any less power and I would stick with Mercury power.

i have 2005 with teague 800's seams to be a great package runs 125, with great acceleration, enough power to drive through the hop, which i hear the 700's dont do as well, the teauge 800 are hydrolic motors so you avoid all the valve adjustments of merc 850's, great boat, having the cabin is big plus even if its just to lug all your luggage on poker runs. you wont regreat buying one handels big and small water very well, fun fast boat!!!

Another question I have is how come none of these boats have the captains choice exhaust on them so you could run it loud or quiet if you want? I wont be able to buy a boat with through hull exhaust only boating up here in Minnesota I would be getting ticket after ticket so this pretty much limits me to Nortechs with the underwater exit exhaust.

The factory never did a switchable exhaust to go with the Nor-quiet system. Between Double R and CMI, we developed a switchable system that we did on three 43 Cats with 1075's. It was not nearly as easy as a switchable system using smaller engines like 496's and thru-prop exhaust. There were actuator issues with them though and they were terribly expensive. Usually, once guys run the Nor-quiet system, they have no interest in going loud again.

If you run a Nor-quiet system and want to go loud, you just need to cap the cactus' and throw a set of straight through tails on.

Nate- If you aren't 100% set on a 36 Nortech & want a very well rounded almost bullet proof package you might consider this. The V-10's are quiet to begin with but I have mufflers.PM me if you would like more details I don't want to HiJack just offering you options.

NASCAT I have seen your boat for sale its a beautiful looking boat the main reason I want a Nortech is because of the cabin I like to do a few over nights a year so I need a cabin otherwise I like Skaters very much.
