Decibel ? 28 Heat
Just curious if anyone had had their Heat tested and where they came in. Mine is a 2000 with a stock 502 - the exhaust tips are 1/2 way submerged unless I have 3 or 4 bodies on the rear bench then they are all the way under and very quiet.

No I haven't, BUT I have a 575SCi with the factory CMIs. I was idling in a harbor right next to the TWRA patrol boat, and they never said anything regarding noise (they did tell me to put the margarita down :drink: ). This is on a lake where there is some occaisional noise enforcement. I think if the 575 with headers passes (arbitrary) enforcement, you'll be OK. They have never said anything to me while I'm on plane either. The exhaust outlets are so low, and the swim platforms also muffle the noise,,,,,I think we're OK. I have a friend who has a DB meter. I'll check it out. Regards, Steve |
Re: Decibel ? 28 Heat
I've never had a problem. I was stopped once for an arbitrary inspection. I was real low on fuel so the exhaust was completely out of the water. The officer was directly behind the boat for a while and never said anything.

Re: Decibel ? 28 Heat
I think that the boats were designed with this in mind, I hear they can be a pain in the a_ _ in Havasu.

I'm not really worried, just curious on what the number would be. Maybe I'll buy a tester at Radio Shack - I hear they're great for dialing in your home theater system as well. :drink:

Re: Decibel ? 28 Heat
Kokopelli,
I was checked in our Heat at Pineview two years ago. This is when I had the 540 naturally aspirated and it came in at 97db. After installing the big ProCharger I never had another issue. It quieted it way down but I don't have any db numbers. That motor earlier this year actually passed in my friends Heat with no mufflers at Lake Havasu Marina. 900hp, no mufflers and it passed at 88db. Go figure  His tips are a little lower than mine were though. So put a supercharger on it and quiet it down :evilb: :evilb: |

Re: Decibel ? 28 Heat
my 98 heat exhaust tips are right at the water line. when my tanks are full
and have 3 people in the back seat i have quiet exhaust. vs 1/4 tank on both side .. sounds much louder notice Nordic moved the exhaust out on the side. looks like its higher up which may be little louder. thanks bill |
