Guys,
Light race boat turnout. No social events. These guys (SBI/APBA) need to work on their format.
The OSS race I attended at Pickwick Lake this Spring was heads above this deal.
And my pictures turned out like crap ...................
There was some decent deck to deck racing on Sunday, but they held us (the spectator fleet) back so far, it was hard to keep up with the racing. Several of the class winners did idle through the spectator fleet at the end, which was a great PR move.
Regards,
Steve

Steve, it was a divisional race so the turnout was actually good considering.
All the party's were in the pits with free food for all. You guys have an awesome town and I would love to see it become a National event

Scott:
Glad to hear you had a good time in Chattanooga. It is a pretty city with the mountains and lakes. I live in Nashville, but we came down to check it out, being a former racer, current Poker Runner, and race boat fan(s).
Just an FYI, we figured that SOMETHING would be going on in the pits Saturday. After being in the spectator fleet Saturday, we pulled out and trailered to the park @ 5:30. We were turned around at the gate by some guy(s) who had no official garb or SBI/APBA identification. We offered to pay the $10 cover, even though the racing was over, and were told "we are closed, you can't come in." So we spent our time and money elsewhere.
If you contrast that "reception" with Grand Funk Railroad live, a beer barge, endless food vendors, gracious racers eager to show guys interested in their boats anything we wanted to see, several of them gave us t-shirts even though we offered to pay, a great bar owned by David Woods with more good food, music and booze, Pier 57 itself, and letting the spectator fleet in close enough to see the action, the Chattanooga promoters/sponsors need to take a look at their format.
If you're a racer, good show on Sunday, I hope you won or finished well. But, you can feel free to pass my comments along to whomever is interested.
Regards,
Steve

Steve, thanks for the input, I am sorry you were turned away at 5:30pm
I was unaware that they were even checking. It will be bigger and better.
A divisional race rarely has any fanfair at all. If this becomes a national event, there will be more events in conjunction with it.
If you are ever at another race and see the Big Blue AMF trailer, ask for Scotty B and we'll feed and booze ya.

PS I raced the KEAN UNIVERSITY/ AMF Boat and we won
Blue Hull/white Deck 24 Pantera

PPS We raced a joint venture with OSS this year in St Clair MI. A great group and all there events are top knotch

ScottyB:
We did make our way to the pits Saturday morning, and saw the big Outerlimits. I don't recall seeing you boat. It was pretty close to start time, so you had probably been called to the ramp.
Anyway, I hope you guys come back, and we will get together over a cold one or 2 next time around. We are kicking a Key West trip around, no decision yet. Good luck down there if you are racing.
Regards,
Steve
