looking at buiyng a Nordic rage, would like some input
 

Hello,

I'm looking at getting a Nordic Rage from 2000.

It has a Marine Power 502 engine and i have been told it gives 485-500HP. It is equipped with a Surface Piercing drive from Pulse Drive.

I dont own any boat where i currently live and now im feeling that im getting the urge :) It will be mostly used for crusiing along with some friends and some occasional high speed runs for the thrill of it. I guess most uses will be daytrips and some occasional weekend trips.

Do you have any comments on this setup? Does it sound like a good buy? Anything special to think about regarding this boat/engine/drive setup?

WOW...that is one crazy drive system.......who can service that or is it a one off. Never saw that setup before.

There is more info about the drives on http://www.pulsedrive.net/

People claim they cant break ;) So i guess service wont be an issue :P
But seriously. It is a pretty simple design. Like, engine, a transom and then a straight axle and then some rudders. So i guess it wont be too hard to do maintance on if something breaks. What might be a downside is the time to get parts here in sweden. It seems like Pulse Drives arent that common here...

Thanks for the link....very interesting....seems like a good concept and low maintenance with great maneuverability. Only question would be how much water need to under the boat. Those rudders look long so low water conditions might be a problem. I posted a thread on the GD about it....lets see who has used them and might get good feedback.

Something about coming to the US, being named Bent and living in Minnesota and having a Nordic 28 Heat and boating on the Missisippi with a leaky blow up sheep, with duct tape. :D

Jim you pretty much got it right....

Its kinda cool...Danish , Swedish and Norway are 3 different Languages yet they are so close to each other that we can understand each other.....


BTW Yes I was born in Copenhagen Denmark and moved to the US when I was 12 years old......Been here almost 30 years now

Oh, and I thougtht it was Austrailian, but what do I know? LOL I was born in CT but have been in Texas since I was 7! We know "Texan" or messed up Texican. ;) I just know Google language couldn't translate it. :D
