New 32 Comming
Nordic to build a 32 according to Powerboat NEWS 9.06
Powerboat Issue page 25 Sept 06 Nordic Goes Bigger Than Ever For more than three years the crew at Nordic Boats has been working on a new 42-foot V-bottom. The wait is over as the largest boat in the Lake Havasu Ariz. company's line -- and the last boat designed by founder Orval Sommerstedt who sold the company last fall -- made its debut in early July at the Catalina Ski Race in Southern Califonia. With a pair of staggered 950-horsepower engines connected to Mercury Racing No. 6 dry-sump drives Nordic general manager Lonnie Fluent expects the double-stepped 42 to run faster than 110 mph. With stock power-twin Mercury Racing HP525EFI's - Fluent says the boat will start around $350000. The 42-footer is the second boat Nordic has debuted under new owner Randy Davis. The Alta Loma Calif. resident really pushed to get the 42 finished. Earlier this year the company unveiled its first cat -- a 27-footer -- and a new 32-footer is right behind the 42 which Fluent says will be a nice package with a pair of new Mercury Racing HP7000SCi engines. |
