That's pretty impressive.

Our ILMOR 700/Heat will be at the Powerboat Magazine 700 shootout next month. It should do well :drink:

Where is the shoot out being held?

My estimate is 83mph tops and they'll say the props weren't right or the moon wasn't aligned just right or something along those lines :D

Just an educated guess :drink:

All that aside, it should be a very nice package. Do they loose any cockpit area with the longer Illmor package?

LOL....well out of the box the baot ran 82+ and got there like a rocket. They are playing with several prop options 4/5/6 blades at various pitches they result after break in and beoing dialed in prop wise is 87-90 mph. They want asa much as possible for the shootout. The shootout will be at PARKER, AZ. Not much was lost inside the cockpit due to the ILMOR I think 2 inches or less.

82+ is not bad. I knew Dave would know what it would run as he probally has more experience with them than any body else with big power. I was guessing at 20HP per MPH, 425-700 equals 275 addition HP. 275/20=13.75. 65+13.75= 79MPH. It did a little better. 82 MPH with a good engine package is not all that bad. It may get another 1-2 MPH but is close to done. Still a great boat with a great reliable speed. Going to be a happy owner somewhere.

I'd have to dissagree with that. My Heat with 525 is running a pretty steady 78 gps. I would think that with an additional 175 hp on hand it would run a more than 83. Let's just wait and see the test results. I would guess at 85-86

These test won't be in cool weather on the salt
You guys run in conditions I know nothing about but are apparently very favorable for speed.
If I understood correctly, these test will be conducted in the conditions where the vast majority of these hulls are run :p
They could however be running down river though (or up depending on the posted results :p )
The ski races are at Parker this weekend :evilb:

Ray, truth be known, your 525 dynos ~560-565 at the crank vs Ilmor 700 crank which nets a 135hp difference. Your torque is not far behind either. Don't sell your 525 short :D

Just as a comparison, my 28 ran from a slowest of 82 to a best of 89 this past summer. The 82 was glass water, high humidty and 100+ temps. Fresh water and 800 ft. elevation. The water temp was over 90. The 89 MPH was 70 degrees air temp, about 75 degree water temp, same elevation and a good chop. I pulled the engine and put it straight on the dyno. It made 770 HP at the 5600 RPM it was turning in the boat. This is a midcabin boat. I believe the closed bow is slightly faster.

OK the Powerboat 700 trials are over and so is all the speculation....with Bob Teague driving the boat ran 90 MPH ! GPS & RADAR confirmed. Look for the shootout in the upcoming issues. This boat looked and ran so good. It was TOYOTA's pick of the litter that day for the new TUNDRA commercial which is being filmed as I write this. This boat will also be shown behind the TUNDRA in all the print ads nationwide as well. Talk about a high profile piece to own :drink:

So step up fellas....who wants to own it :D
