anybody need a 27" P5-X

Hi Guys,
There is a barely used 27" Throttle UP blueprinted P5-X in the prop classifieds for sale very reasonable ($775, I've got $1500 in mine:eek: ).
If you have a late model (2000+) step bottom Heat, this is a great deal, if the pitch is correct for you.
Wish it was a 29", it would be sold (to me:rolleyes: ).
I know the seller, and it's as new.
Regards,
Steve

Steve,
I have attached some information on various props I have tried. The boat has a HP 525 Any suggestions on eliminating the excessive slip? The drive was lowered 1 inch from the factory.

I saw the add for the PX-5. I'am thinking about it. Need to unload a lab bravo 1 28 frist.

Bill,
Sounds like someone out there in Havasu is listening if you got them to got to 18 1/4"s XD. You may want to check that to make sure. BTW, my XD is 19 1/4"s, and I have added a 1" spacer taking mine to 18 1/4"s effective XD.
It looks like the Power Tech 5 blade is getting you into the direction you want. Your slip #s are better across the board, and within 1.7 MPH of the 26" B1, which is on the limiter (I think) @ 5250.
I'm not familiar with the Power Tech. Are the blades straight (like a cleaver) on the trailing edge, or do they have a radius, like a round ear? If they are straight, it's a stern lifter like the Hydro P-5, not what you want. Rounded trailing edge props like the newer P-5X are bow lifters, and what the Heat needs.
If the PT is a bow lifting design, blueprinting it to your hull (thinning, balancing, cupping) will get you back to 70+ easily.
You can generally expect 200 RPM from a good blueprint, with much better slip #s.
If you can get your hands on a 26" Hydromotive P5-X (they have an exchange/test program), I think you'll be pleased. The 27" for sale here is such a great deal you might want to buy it. The Throttle UP blueprint on these props has been the $hit on our boats. It may be possible (I would ask Matt) to repitch it if it's too "tall".
Let us know how it goes. Pretty boat. Are you coming to the Jamboree?

Steve

Steve How does the pitch rating on the P-5X compair to the bravo 1. In other words P-5X 27 would be about what pitch in bravo 1?

nitro/max 05-16-2007 08:54 PM

Steve another question. Are you able to change the hubs on P-5X. I have the bravo XR drive.

My 28" P5-X (true pitch) turns almost the exact same Rs as a 30" B1. So, the 27" would be similar to a modified 29" B1.
I also have an XR shaft, and the P5-X does takes the Mercury style hub inserts.

Bent,
Those are great #s for a stock 26". What is the rev limit on your motor? If you can turn it up a little more, say 5150/5250, I think I would have the 26" blueprinted to your boat, which should give you another 200 RPMs, and a few MPH.
You could also try a 24" or 25" Hydromotive P5-X (they have a test/exchange program), and you'll be pleased with that prop.
Regards,
Steve
