Nordic Heat with Raylar 525
 

Just an fyi... My boat was just listed in the classifieds. It has a Raylar 525 with 1yr warranty along with a new Bravo 1x. Both have under 10 hours. If you know of anyone in the market, have them check out the classifieds. Thanks!

Just wondering what the speed numbers are with the new Rayler 525. Was it the kit or was it a complete drop in motor? I need to do something about my speed. I got beat by a 2002 heat with a 500efi; that can only happen once. I have been looking at the Rayler kits but I'm not sure if I want to stick with my 496, or go with a better platform.

Flashr, I've installed Raylar kits on 2 Heats. They picked up right at 10 mph on GPS. Boatingbent had an opportunity to race a Heat with 525 EFI and he said they ran pretty even. He should chime in here when he gets a chance. As far as speed numbers it all depends on the conditions you boat in. The stock 496 HO will run 63 +/- on GPS at our local lake. The Raylar version ran 72-73 in the same conditions.

Yep my Boat with the raylar was pretty much dead even with a Heat with the 525 on Lake Cumberland back in July ....Both Boats had 2 Adults and about the same amount of fuel.....

I am very happy with my Raylar install and Bob lloyd from Full Throttle Marine doing the work for me...Going on 125 hours since the install was done

I can't believe there is so much of a difference in speeds because of sea level and humidity and salt water. Even before my gear change I ran 78 with a 525/xr/its. I don't get it!

That's why you see some of us being skeptical about the results you are getting(although I certainly believe your numbers). I believe the real issue is we are boating on very smooth water and that hull just sticks to it. I've seen speeds vary 7-8 MPH on the same body of water due to conditions. I went out for run one day that was really hot and glass smooth water,and the boat ran so bad that I took it back to the shop and did a compression test thinking I broke something. Next time out it ran fine.

Looks like I have a plan for next spring. I will have the Raylar kit installed. Boatingbent do you have headers and if so what brand did you go with? Right now I am running a 26 pitch Bravo. What pitch are you running?

I have only seen 70-71 on my Heat with the Raylar. I still have the stock prop so I need to check some numbers to make sure I have the right size.

Those are the same numbers I see on mine here @ lake mead on any given day. right about 70. I did run 72 @ parker 2 yrs ago. It still beats the sluggish 63/64 I was seeing before.

What prop are you running?
