Opening Engine Hatch?

How do you open the engine hatch if the batteries are dead or the electric ram has failed?

This one of a couple of design flaws I have found in my flame.
When it happened to me this year I had someone pull the seat back forward, while I squeezed my arm, and jumper cable thru the 2 1/2 inch gap. My arm was black and blue, and almost couldn't get it out.
If I wasn't so lazy, I would wire some remote jumper conections, and place them under the back seat.

The other thing to look out for is the inside front slider button. If something falls against it, closing the door, and your hatches are locked, you will need to drill out your hatch locks from the outside to get back in.

In my 2002 35 there are a set of wires in the back seat that control the hatch. All I have to do is put power to them and it opens up. I have done just to see if it works.

Hello Dwayne. What's up. Nice to meet you at the Nordic Regatta. You've got your Flame flyin' man.
Another idea on the rear hatch.........if your cabin door is open, and you can get to the fuse panel, you can put a portable "power tank" on the main wiring harness leads. It may not be perfect, but I think there would be enough amperage to lift the hatch.
On my 01 Heat, the batteries are under the back seat, as is the battery switch, so they're easily accessible. I also added an onboard battery charger to keep the batteries up between lake trips, and it gives me 12V "shore power" to run lights, stereo, TV, etc while dockside.
Regards,
Steve

If you have shore power, plug that in.

You can also rig up a cigarette lighter adapter to power it. We have one at the shop we use all the time. Of course if the ram or wires are broken that doesn't do any good.

Hey Steve it was nice meeting you too. Hope you had fun I know we did and look forward to next year. From what I’ve read on OSO you are going to fly’ in soon (100+?). I also put an onboard charger in to do the something.

I have the same problem on my scarab(I really need put in some remote jumpers)I took the 4awg power and ground wire from my amps and hooked up the jump box. It was just enough to get the hatch open.

I also have one of these that i have not installed yet.

Dwayne,
We'll get it back together and see what happens.
Actually, there is another Heat here that is much faster than mine. It should already be well over 100.

Steve
