well heres the finished product all done and I did get about 10mph out of it and I'm not done yet. The prop still has some work to be done but here you go. Thanks for every one that helped me along the way. The boat is really fun to drive and I hope to get another 2 to 3 mph out of here before I'm done.

I love the way It looks stock. You cant evan tell when the hatch is down. I'm glad that I didn"t put the hatch scoop on it now. Thanks Steve for talking me out of it. Top speed is still to be determinted or how ever you speel it. But it's looking like mid to upper 70's right now. Well see after the prop work is done and its all dialed.

Nice job...........looks like Dad is having fun :D..........like that fabbed insert on the back seat.
10 MPH is good. That requires an additional 170HP on a Heat. CMIs next! Regards, Steve |

It's hard to say I'm still working out all of the llittle problems. It's a little hard to get them all done when it keeps snowing here. Last weekend wast really nice. I still ave prop work to do. I'm getting a really big slip problem with the 28p Bravo Im runnig now. I might try a p5x next to see if this helps??? I'm running low to mid 70's right now. But I think that mid to upper 70's is not out of the picture before I'm done. This is the guess work part. I'm hoping to get her all dialed by the end of may.

I got a p5x on the way and I'm going to run it this week end. I know that the 1" spacer might have to go on but hopeing that the new prop will get me what I want. I really don't want to have to put a spacer on but know that it might take one. I'm really hoping that the new prop helps the slip and gets me into the 76 to 77 gps #'s. If it does I will be more than happy with that and just leave it alone????? I'll post some #'s this weekend.

You really need the drive spacer, assuming you have the same X dimension as most Heats of that era. It makes a huge difference. Question for you...when you accelerate hard out of the hole, does the prop blow out as the boat rolls over on plane? If it does then your X is too high for that boat. What most of us have experienced is the Heat is much faster in rough water, but sticks to smooth water. When you add the spacer, the trim will losen the boat up and it will run much better in smooth water or with weight in the front.
|
Here's an example. I had a '04 28 Heat with a Whipple supercharged 540. At the time it was making 770 HP. The boat would run a solid 80, 81 tops. I made a test run, pulled it out of the water and added a 1" spacer. Put it back in within an hour time and ran 85. Midrange slip improved dramatically.

Just another test result...
2002 Heat w/HP500EFI @ 5000 feet No Spacer = 65mph Next day with spacer very similar conditions =68mph Owner said the boat felt completely different in a great way! Dave |
Thats the thing. My prop has never blowen out. I can get on it as hard as I want to and it hooks up. Now I have never hit it wot from a stop with the new whipple. But I have given it about half or a little more and it pops right out of the hole with the 28p bravo. And I have trimed up about 3/4 of the way and shot a huge roost but was still picking up speek with the 28p bravo. So I dont know??? I'm sure that I will still have to put one on. You all know that I cant come this far and still leave so much on the table. I'll post more this weekend after the water testing.
