guys with drive spacer experience

alright guys, how many if any mph would a stock 496 in a 2007 heat pick up with a 1" spacer? best place to get one thanks, chad?

I gained 2 MPH with a inch spacer ...I have a 05 heat

Call Bob at Full throttle right there in your Backyard thats where I got mine http://www.fullthrottlemarine.com/

I have done extensive prop/spacer testing on a Heat. A 1" spacer will gain you 2+ mph, just about everywhere. Also going with a good 5 blade prop, like a Hering or Hydromotive P5x will get you a couple more mph at cruise and top end.

I second the vote for BobL ie Bob Loyd for getting the spacer in your area.

Thanks CB-BLR, I knew you had done some extensive testing, just seeing what it would do in my application. I think this will be like a first hit of heroin, I will be addicted. Next I will be dropping a 600sci in mine! Ha, Ha!

How about a photo of the spacer. I am not clear what you are talking about. Any idea if it would work as well on a 25 Rage?

A drive spacer is a peice of aluminum that goes between the upper, and lower sections of your outdrive. Its purpose is to lower the propellor into the water further, thus enhancing prop bite, and generally reducing prop slip.

Here is a link showing what one looks like for a bravo:

There is a delicate balance though. While lowering the outdrive does indeed reduce prop slip, it also increases drag because you now have the outdrive deeper in the water.

I don't know wheather a prop spacer would help your boat or not... hopefully someone with more spacer experience on a Rage will speak up.
