Amp Placement

Getting ready to redo the stereo in the Flame. I currently have the amps mounted in the closet on the wall that backs up the reciever. Looking for ideas on where else to mount them. On hot days that get hot causing the amps to go in protection. Opening the door helps. Any suggestions appreciated.

Linnie,
I'm not sure you can find a cooler place.
Mine are in the closet as well but I built a 4" elevated floor in the closet and the amps reside under that. They have never over heated in this location and are completelty stealth.

Mine are in the engine compartment against the seat back and they overheat all of the time so I am looking at a total redo. I am going to run mine on the stringers below the bench seats in the cabin. I am going to run three 4-channels and 1 Mono for the subs. this is going to require a lot more wire but it will keep the amps cooler. Also my seats in the cabin overhang the stringers enough that the amps should be somewhat protected from coolers/people banging into them. I'll post some pics when I get it done.

Why not put them on the inside of the stringers... under the seats? Check out the "storage" thread here in the Nordic section.

I am upgrading to 2 four channel amps for the speakers. I have 4 set of speakers on a 6 channel amp. The pair that runs on 2 ohms, overheat causing them to cut out. The others that are 4 ohm, never have a problem. The sub amp is good also. I'm probaly going to keep them there. Looks like a good place to keep them. I heard the engine compartment overheats.

Linster, mine are mounted in the closet as well however, we built a fully inclosed amp rack with squirrel cage fans that blow across the amps at all times. Works perfectly.

Mine are mounted to the back of the starboard side seat in the cabin.

I mounted my amp inside the cooler compartment. I don't recall the cabin of the Flame, but here's where I mounted mine in my Heat.

I also have 8 JL Audio 6.5" speakers on a JL Audio 6 channel amp. I mounted mine inside the rear seat along with 2 JL Audio Mono sub amps. On the front side of the bench I placed 4 JL Audio 10" subs.

If you are interested in a few pictures, send me an email to [email protected]

Good luck!

Matt
