New 29' Escape

Purchased a 29' Escape! It's almost done and i can't wait to see it in person. Nordic builds an amazing boat with outstanding quality. This is my second Nordic and will not be my last.

You need to be a paid member, not just a registered member to post pics.

Great looking boat!

You are going to want a Low Water Pickup or Dual Water Pickup- Lower unit for your outdrive, or you will have trouble getting enough water for the 600sci.

Trust me on this one.

How about an update.

mattdearing 08-18-2009 05:49 PM

Looks killer! I'm sure you will be Happy with the finished product, I would love to see this in a closed bow version as well some day

Linster 08-19-2009 05:52 AM

I like the boat, looks like Nordic did a good job of modernizing the 28. Looks like they put just a single tank in the belly since the sides are wide open? The deck looks very sleek. Do you know if they plan on doing the same to the heat in a closed deck version?

Steve Zuckerman 08-21-2009 10:19 AM

So???

How did she run and handle? If I am correct, this is the new twin step hull. It should be more efficient than our single step Heats. I hope it went well.

Steve

Hi Steve,
I am not an expert on the Escape since I've never seen one in the "glass". It looks like an updated OB Heat. Slightly longer, deeper, and I think (?) it has the Flame type twin step bottom.
I think it's OB only for the time being. The interior looks great. If you are thinking of buying new, it's definetly worth checking out vs the Heat. The Heat is a great boat too. If you are shopping the used market, you should be able to find a Heat you like at a reasonable price.
Regards,
Steve

Compared to a Heat:

The escape has a twin stepped bottom and has a single gas tank in the middle.

This is being built as an open bow model only.. the open bow and the main cockpit area are bigger than on the Heat, and the mid-cabin is much smaller. They are not planning on building a closed bow model of this boat, as it would have less area under the bow than a Heat does.

I was given this information by Mike Chandler of Nordic.

Chris

P.S. I am really looking forward to seeing how this boat performs

mattdearing 08-22-2009 11:07 AM

Thanks, good info Chris. I never totally understood this one though. Not to be negative buy why 29 that's seems like a lot of work for just a foot, unless its a replacement of the 28, why not 30? and give it a better name, doesn't really fit the theme unless they meant Fire Escape? :) I really think 30 is a good size but maybe I just got 2 foot fever. Regardless it does look sweet on the water. We saw it running at desert storm this spring Nordic made some very nice style choices on it with the windscreen, shaped stern, flattened gunwale and intake resembling the Thor as well as many others. I'd love to see how she runs as well, it should be a very efficient hull.

CB-BLR 08-22-2009 05:31 PM

I think it is supposed to be sort of a deck boat on a v platform.
Definately neat looking!

Mike,

Your boat looks really sharp.

Congradulations!

Chris

I looked on Nordics site. It has the same dimensions as the heat. Looks like to me they added a step to the bottom. That will probally help it free up some more. I also do not like to side tanks. That is a great improvement. Someting about the center of the weight being lower should help as well. Great looking boat

Linster 08-24-2009 06:53 PM

Is that a twin step??? After looking closer to the pictures, it looks like paint. Still a great looking looking boat that you will come to enjoy greatly

Steve Zuckerman 08-24-2009 08:13 PM

AND.............air intakes on the side decks  :eureka:! That's a good thing Mike :). Just a little commentary on the need for better air induction on the existing designs.
Your boat looks great!
Regards,
Steve

CB-BLR 09-09-2009 08:50 PM

Any updates on how this boat is running?

I woundering about the top end number... have you opened her up yet?

Cusious about the advantages of the twin step hull over the Heat's single step.

Chris
