Should I get a Thor

I currently have a Baja 232 and am considering a change to the 27 Thor. Any recommendations, suggestions, warnings, etc for me?

If you want to go (really, 100+) fast, it's hard to beat the effciency and stability of a cat. I also like the F-16 canopies and radical looks of these boats. However like most things in life there are some compromises.
You will lose your cabin amenities with some of these boats, and you should look into insurance rates before taking the plunge.
Regards,
Steve

I only spend 2-3 nights a year on my current boat. I would like a place to sleep (Pad of some sort).

I called my insurance agent and gave them the hull number of the boat I am looking at, and the price of my insurance only went up about $170 per year.

What year are you looking at.there has been alot of changes in the thor over the last few years. As long as your looking at a 2008 or newer you will be very happy with the boat.
We have three instock . If you are really interested in a new thor. Feel free to call me.
We would also be very happy to bring you out to our showroom & demo a boat or too.
We have merc racing 525's that run 90+, Paul phaff 725,and merc 700 nxt powered thor that runs 120+.

Ratchford232 10-25-2009 08:11 PM

John,
What would be the "right price"?

Ratchford232 10-25-2009 08:21 PM

Tim,
I checked out your website and the inventory. I only saw an '07 that was sold and that crazy carbon fiber '08. You said that you had 3. Where are the other 2 that you currently have in stock advertised? Any photos or info would be great.
I am flying out to Lake Havasu in November to drive a 27 Thor with a 525 ("Ferrari Boat" that is in the most recent Powerboat magazine). I want to get some impressions of the boat in person before I purchase one.

I can say that John's boat is one of the nicest and cleanest boats in our area and John takes VERY good care of his boat, anything he has done to that boat is done right and it looks SWEEEET!

Thanks for all of the input, but I opted to buy a RPM Redline 26.

johnlomant 11-30-2009 08:13 PM

Good choice. They make a great boat and are very nice people. They are the only ones who touch my boat besides myself. I love the Thor but I cant argue with your decision. I heard the Thor didnt run as well as expected, that is funny because they say it is a faster hull than my version. I guess they were wrong on that one too. I hope everything goes well with the new boat. Post some pics when you get it.

Great choice on the RPM cat!

I had the oportunity to drive your new boat a few months ago, and really liked it.

I really like the looks of the Thor, but you can't argue with the performance and versatility of the RPM.

Plus... I have never seen a boat that is more a labor of love and dedication than Steve puts into the RPM.

Have fun,

Chris
