i have had some single engine boats that whent over 90 and nose cones helped a lot, but will post after the first ride > couple months before the ice is off<

The 1" should help but I would think you would need to go to 5 baldes. Notice all the new fast Fountains have a very high drive hight and shoot a rooster tail. I think I even saw some with 6 blades. Raising the drive stops the rocking. I had no problem with mine when I hit 95 as long as the 280 tabs were about 1" down from being level with the bottom of the boat.
If you are running over 80, nose cones are good! |

Nose cones pictures with low water pickups under the point

Drilling through the casings for water to get through needs good thought.

Linnie,
Was your drive originally a low water pickup or side water? I'm seriously considering this move with my dual pickup. I read where Mr. Gadgets had installed the Hydromotive nose cone over the lower holes and just used the side holes for pickup with no issues. Obviously this has worked for years. Beings I have enough water pressure currently that I require blow offs this may be a good direction for me. I can't imagine that it would be that hard to run a 1/2" hole into the nose of dual pickup drive anyway. Give me a call later; need an update on things :D Dave |
These were from a buddy of mine. He had dual water pickups. I filled in the low side of them to help from picking up sand is shallow water. With the side pickups, we had heating problems a WOT. Drilled out the bottoms & filled the sides and all went away.

So you could just drill into the cavity in the nose for the LWP? Thanks |
