2001 Nordic Sprint With hp525

I have a hp 525 with xr drive my boat is all over the place... Anyone know what trim tab size I should get.. Im running a merc 26p prop..

Does anyone have a set they want to sell or trade for something?

I am not familiar with the Sprint. Iv'e seen pics in mags. I think it's the earlier version of the Rage with the pad vee hull?
Tabs will settle chine walk down, but usually at the cost of some speed, because they have to induce some drag to work.
Of course if you can't run wide open now, and tabs enable you to do so, you may still have a net gain in speed.
Does your boat have hydraulic steering? If not, that's where you can make a big improvement in handling and driveability.
Worn gimble bearings can also cause handling problems.
I would also check the last 4 or 5 feet of your hull with a straightedge (fore and aft). It should be very close to straight. If it has hook (concave area) or rocker (convex area) that will definitely cause handling issues. Hook acts like a trim tab and tries to keep the boat too wet. Rocker usually causes porpoising, and sometimes chinewalk, particularly if it's more pronounced on one side of the centerline.
There are several pad vee Heats here, and they all seem to handle fine, but they are bigger heavier boats. You have a good amount of HP for the size of your hull (that's a good thing). That usually requires rigging refinement and good driving techniques.
Have you got any pictures of your boat?
Regards,
Steve

That's 22' right?

Steve Zuckerman 03-02-2010 06:40 PM

Yes it is a 22'. I had it confused with the Scandia.
With a 525HP, I bet is a handful :drink:.

Steve

Someone at Nordic should know how to set this boat up. They use a Sprint as a ski racing boat with a 1500hp engine and two stern drives. They must have tried every possible combination by now. Yes, one engine, two drives.

Call Arron at Absolute Marine in Havasu.
He owns, drives and rigs the ski race boat...

I saw that boat at the factory & don't know how they keep it under control anywhere but the trailer!
I have pics, does anyone know how to attach?
