Looking for Camshaft Suggestions
Wondering whether there is any point in changing the cam on my Whippled 496? It is currently running the stock cam and heads with the Whipple pumping out 7lbs of boost. Perhaps the heads are the limiting factor and the cam should be left alone? Looking for suggestions from anyone who has gone down this path already.

Call Bob Madera he is the CAM GURU for a lot of high performance race and pleasure boaters !!!
# 585 654 8583 let him know what u whant the engine to do and the specs,.....he will let the cam do what u need it to !!!! |
I would also give Raylar a call. They have cams and aluminum heads, as well as forged cranks/pistons/rods for your motor, and specialize in 496s.
BTW, if your motor is a 425 HO MAG, the bigger cam and programming are the upgrades from the 375 HO version, so you have a decent cam now. No doubt Bob Madera can cover you on cams too. Regards, Steve |
What pistons? Piston to valve clearance is an issue. Raylar sells a blower cam that's decent with the stock heads. I dyno'd one at 655 HP at 5500 RPM, but it had a forged rotating assembly to get there.
