Props

Has anyone ever tried a different prop besides a B1 on a 35 flame with any success? Im running 30p's with 502's turning 5000 rpm at 80mph. Any insight would be great.

I don't know what a B1 is, but I have a Flame and I run 32 & 30's.

so why 2 different props?? One engine not spinning as fast. Im running 30 B 1's at 4900 rpm at 80 mph. Having them worked right now.

I tried a friends stock fresh out of the box 28's and didn't see any difference.

Ha, no I just have a set of 30's for high elevation and I run the 32's at lower elevation.

Was gonna field that one, but didnt want to type it out on my phone.

What are your goals Freek? What sort of 502s are in your boat? MPI, 500EFI, etc. Are you looking for better cruising, bow carrying, hole shot, top speed? Really need details to get you the correct answer.

So my Flame makes about 750 HP per motor. I run props that get me on plane the best within reason. I personally don't care about my top end speed. I also run stock props, lab props tend to be "slippery" on the bottom.

Top speed. And just a few other choices

Jay Gadsby 07-27-2016 08:20 AM

With those numbers posted, your slip is around 16%. Maybe instead of jumping around in pitch, call up a prop shop like Bblades and talk to them about a 5 blade prop. I know the heats benefit from the extra surface and it solves a lot of problems, maybe a P5X on the Flame will work for you.

freekazoid 08-12-2016 11:52 AM

Ok i will guve that a shot. But I've heard that they are hard on your drives.

Jay Gadsby 08-12-2016 05:40 PM

All of the folks I have met personally with high HP Heats (700+hp range) run the P5X. As with any Bravo application behind BBC torque, dont kill it out of the hole and you should be fine.
