Selling Advice
 

I need to sell my 06 Heat this year. I put it up for sale in Aug of last year. I knew it was late in the season and didn't expect to sell, but I was surprised at how little interest I had and the fact that I didn't receive any offers, not even low balls. I know spring is the right time to get it on the market, but what do you guys think is the best way to list it and get it sold? Ebay, CL, boat trader? Im in Houston, TX

I sold my old 382 a couple years ago on powerboatlistings.....in Jan.

It was a mint condition boat priced low enough to get people to come see it.....first guy that came bought it for full price and later asked why I sold it so cheap.......cause that's what it took to get him to come see it!

Price, condition, and model desirability. Price should reflect condition and history. Is your "mint" or "near perfect" truly that? What about maintenance records, have all rebuilds/maintenancer been done according to schedule or trying to sell a 525 boat with 350 hrs and engines needing top end work for example? What does the boat need: impellers, plugs, oil change. Make it a fresh no brainer for a buyer.Stand back and look at what your trying to sell without any prejudice. If your boat ranks in the top 2 or 3 in it's comps. and is priced 3-5% less, than you will be the highest logical consideration for a buyer of that type of boat. Make a very detailed ad but don't write a book and post many GOOD pictures.

Yes my listing was a novel, very thorough and I was price lowest I could find for the year/hours. Will do the same this time around. Boat was and will be in ready to use condition. Its currently winterized which is why I don't currently have it listed.

A bit of advice I give folks:

If your boat is for sale after the 4th of July, go ahead and drop the price to what you would ask for it in the following April.
The costs & hassle of not having to winterize, store, and pay for insurance...
...subtract that from your bottom line.

While I know that some folks don't have to worry about an off season & winterization; many of your buyers do. They may take advantage of a nice price in the fall/winter, and use that savings to make the boat "a bit theirs" with updates and customizing over their off months.

how are you making out. the thing I see the most is that people are listing high, and expecting to negotiate. doesn't work

I havent listed it for sale yet this year. Keeping it winterized a little longer
