Default 35 Flame setup questions

I am looking to do some upgrades over the winter to try and get my boat into the triple digits. I have an 03 Flame with Pfaff 700's, standard 1.5 XR lowers, turning 32B1 props. I am running around 93mph now. I think it should be a little faster. I have one -1 Imco lower, 1.5 ratio and I have 0ne standard length Imco lower 1.36 ratio. I can buy one of either to get a matched pair. Has anyone tried a pair of -1's on a Flame? I would think that the nosecones should help quite a bit at this speed, but what about the length? What about a proven prop for this hull? I have a pair of 30P B1's, but I haven't tried them yet. Thanks, Joe

i was told that my flame with the merc 700's ran at 130 mph. i bought it with stock 502's spinning B1 30's at 5200 and i was at 84 mph on gps. to me your way under speed for the engine package you have. and my outdrives are stock bravo ones 1.5 ratio.

I put on the -1 lowers and I am going to dunk it tomorrow and see what happens. I have some serious doubts about 130mph with 700's. I don't think a flame has ever been that fast. That is about what a Skater runs with 700s

Agreed - interested to hear how the shorty's work.

There was a flame for sale over winter with pro charged 500s - I know the guy who built the boat and it ran 105-110,,,I don't see 700s doing 130, ever.

-1 lowers didn't work well for me. Had a very hard time getting on plane. It did pick up some top end though. Ran it up to 95 in less than ideal conditions until the chine walk got so bad that I had to back off. I might cure it with some 5 blade props and some longer tabs, but at some point, enough is enough.

My boat originally had NXT's but had the same issues. Than went to sportmaster lowers and it would not plane etc. Ended up with stock Bravo lowers with nose cones...
