Rage Waliking

I recently purchased a 2000 Rage. It chine walks and is almost out of control above 80. Has a single ram hydro steering, factory trim tabs, 31 labbed prop. We've played with the tabs and trim with no real changes other then its slower. Are these hulls really that unstable? I've got more power left but its sketchy.

Open to suggestions and experience with this hull. Thanks

How much HP? Hulls do have their limits; you can't just throw more power at a hull and expect it to perform linearly. I friend had a 25' Sunsation (24x7 hull) and had enough power to run over 100. At 104mph, the whole boat picked up and 'walked' across the top of the water with the prop rotation about 8 feet before the hull settled back in the water. That's when he hung it up.

Right about 600 hp. I just find it hard to believe mid 80's is all this hull is capable of. If that's the case she'll be sold.
I'd be happy if it ran 90's but it seems that might be out of the question for this hull.

There was a guy on here years ago, 90mphrage, had a whipped 500 rage that ran over 90, haven't seen him on in awhile tho, I had a rage and are great boats but mine only ran best of 78 with the 496 HO

Talk to a good prop guy before you decide to sell. Your problem could be in the prop you have. Wrong diameter, rake, etc for that combination.

Any suggestions on good places? Prop was just cleaned up by a local shop before I bought the boat.

Get feedback from Rage owners at the RiverDavesPlace forum. I would also call Nordic Boats at (928)855-7420. Nordic is probably one of the most professional, service-minded boat manufacturers out there, and since many of their clients take the serious high-performance route with their boats, they know very well what your boat needs as far as rigging, set-up, and propping to get the most out of it. Your prop and steering are two of the variables high on my list though. Best of luck, 'cause a Rage should be a keeper.
P.S. When you talk to Mike or any of the other fellows that's been at Nordic for a long time, reference the Nordic Rage demo that the late great Lonnie Fluent took to the Powerboat Magazine performance trials in 2004. It's a very good comparison to your boat: https://www.boats.com/reviews/powerb...ordic-25-rage/ D.S.
