Nordic Warranty
Anyone else here had to deal with Nordic and warranty issues?
|
I've had my 28' since '01 and haven't had any issues regarding warrantee work. I did have issues with the dealer when I took delivery though. He went out of business shortly after delivery

About 2yrs ago the engine lid and bench seat started to tear at the seams. Nordic says its under warranty for 5yrs and we decide the easiest way to fix it would be to make some new skins and ship them to me and I would install myself. Well after 6 months of making new ones they finally ship. Guess what! $115 for shipping and $333 to Nordic for labor!!! What kind of warranty is that?

Maybe when they handed you the bill they forgot it was still under warranty:D

Is vinyl warranteed? Who's to say that people won't be walking around in heels or hard sole shoes, or punctures or other abuse? No vinyl can stand up to abuse (rtn...I'm not saying you abused your vinyl, just making a general statement). If it just separated, you'd think they'd help out.

Well I thought they were helping out. No one said anything about
any cost except for the cost to get the part out to Nordic and back. Thats why we decided to make new skins and install them here. The boat is a 2000 and kept in a garage and the seams started ripping almost 2yrs ago. They didn't say a thing about any cost until after they shipped it to me COD. It just really pisses me off. I've had several items they should have taken care of and its been like dealing with a bunch of first graders. I've had six other boats before this one and never had vinyl problems. (We don't wear heals on our boat, hee-hee.) I did step on the bench seat of a newer boat I had once. It was freezing out side and the vinyl split right where I stepped. They sent the whole flip-up part, just needed to bolt on. Free, no cost for shipping, labor, or parts. And no whining or shady deals. |
rtn137,
I assume you contacted them after paying the COD charges and reminded them about the previous conversation of no charge for material/labor. What was their response? Maybe, once they remember that they will refund the material/labor part. Rick |
Re: Nordic Warranty
I've had a hard-on for Nordic's ever since my first jetboat purchase (not a Nordic.)
I'm finally looking at picking my first one up this weekend. Issues like this are making it a tougher decision! |
Re: Nordic Warranty
Well I am a Nordic Dealer on the East Coast. I carry other lines as well. It's a business period. There are two sides to every story as well. About 50% of the time the customer is not telling the truth about how something broke. I have no trouble getting parts replaced quickly from Nordic. The labor to install them is another story. All boat MFG are the same. They are difficult to get warranty items covered unless the boat was 750,000.00 or more and even then they balk sometimes. If you like a boat line stick with your choice. It makes no difference at all regarding warranty. ALL THE MANUFACTUERS HANDLE THINGS THE SAME EXACT WAY- NOBODY WANTS TO PAY OUT-. That goes for insurance companies as well.
