Flame owners; prop question

Has anyone done a back to back prop swap say from 28" Bravos to 30" Bravos or visa versa on thier Flame? If so what type of rpm increase/decrease do you see with a 2" change?
Thanks,
Dave

Gary can answer this best. I think they respond best to Merc labbed props.

No one has ever changed props on thier Flame????

Also, does anyone know of anyone that has a set of 26s that they would like to trade for a set of basically new 28s (untouched).

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
Good question. I have a set of 26" Bravo 1, but I just bought a pair 28" props for my boat that I have @ Throttle-up being labbed! I'm going to keep the 26's for when the kids want to go tubing! :D
Are you thinking about just trying 26" props?

Re: Flame owners; prop question

Dean,
I have the set of the old style 30s that out perform the 28s across the board as you can see from that data.
My situation is different than most. We boat 85% of the time at 5000 feet elevation where we loose ~450 rpm. I will need 26s for the brunt of the time and will use my 30s at our low elevation trips.
This is why I'm asking for rpm deltas with 2" of pitch change on this hull. I'm guessing 300-400 rpm which will allow me to turn the 26s to about 4900-4950 and maybe 72 mph at 5000 feet. After trying them I may have them re-pitched to 27s and labbed.
I assume your re-pitching to 29 with the lab finish, correct?

I may be interested, I am looking at some 32's labbed to 33's. Let me know

Dave

Do you really loose that much? that is amazing. I knew elevation hurt some but I did not think that much. I think the 35 respondes well to a Merc labbed prop. Some boats do not, especially if they need bow lift. Matbe some labbed 28's will fill the bill.

I've got a customer wanting to sell a set of 30" Maximus props. They ran 91 @ 5600 RPM on his 42' Fountain.

Altitude sucks!!! A way of life in these parts. Lake Powell in July at near 4000 feet and 115 degrees is more like a 600 rpm loss :(
I have thought about having the 28s re-pitched to 27 and labbed but they would certainly loose some midrange punch.

I've done back to back from 30's to 32's, lost 300 rpm's (5400 to 5100, 500 efi's) slight increase in speed.

Dave...you gotta find a job with a gov't contractor on the Chesapeake, there's tons of them and you won't have your altitude issue (I can also mooch a ride on your Flame and pig out on crab sandwiches LOL) :D Just don't make me go over the bridge a hundred times :p

The 5 blades do not work well on the Flame. We found theat the Mercury Labbed 32's are perfect for the HP 525's and the Flame. Plenty of low end punch and good top end 93.7 GPS....we have kicked around cupping them to 33's but are very happy with 32's.
